What if there was a horrible series of events like they accidentally injured a dog on the way to see the goonies, and have been so distraught ever since the guilt won't let them enjoy the company of the dog or watch goonies?
 
I went through a few hamsters with my daughter. "I promise to take care of it." Bullshit! Was always me. Anyways, we had Cookie. Cookie would sit on the couch and drink beer with me. Cookie just liked to hang out. Coolest hamster ever. Cookie 2008-2009. They don't live long.
