I totally wanted to go to Cal Tech until I got convinced to go on a school trip to Poly Royal. (Cal Poly Open House.) I remember stepping off the bus and thinking, "OMFG! There goes the woman of my dreams! Er... wait a minute... there's another one.... and another one...."

I was there from '89 - '95. (I took my sweet ass time getting out of there.) If you showed up during the summer when the engineers had their separate open house, you would have been sorely disappointed.
