Hey all,

Wondering if anyone has come up witha particularly good mounting system for a Contour camera to mount it to the handle bars or a tube style motorcycle frame. I've heard that thier bicycle bar mount isn't too sturdy, and the stick on mounts don't offer the flexibility I'm looking for in terms of positioning and camera angles.

I'm using a ram mount ball on the handle bar.

I bought a ram mount ball that screws into hole at bottom of the contour.

there's too much vibration.

I have also tried their suction cup mount with a 3 inch extension arm.

here's video with the suction cup/extension attached to the top of my tank. note: I have a v-twin!

next I'm going to try a shorter extension arm (1 inch) and get a contour camera 'holder'. the camera will slide into the holder and the ball will screw into the holder. hopefully this ill isolate the camera from shaking.

Best Buy stock bar/tube mounts for GoPro. Have a look at one and see if it could be adapted.

I have the same setup as fast4d. The arm length plus handlebar vibration created video artifacts (rolling shutter). I moved the camera to my helmet and notices a significant improvement.

On my mountain bike, I mounted it to the top of my helmet using the contour strap mount. The positioning wasn't ideal, as the bouncy motion on the ride resulted in a very choppy handicam-style video. Still, the strap mount was the most versatile of all the mounting options.

same here... hooked a ram ball system up, using the shortest arm-piece, to one of my empty stock mirror ports. contour roam. all footage came out wavy and distorted. fastened the cam to my helmet - problem solved.

Thanks guys. For giggles I had put my camera in the map pocket on the top of my tankbag, and not only was the wind noise issue gone but it was a pretty cool view. The problem is it really doesn't stay aimed, and catches too much of the tank bag in picture. So I thought I could solid mount it just peering over the tiny windscreen of my SuperDuke, but out of the air stream comming over it, and then I could get some good engine sound along with some nice lean angle in the shots....I then tried mounting some velcro on the top of the tank bag and on the camera mount, but there was too much low frequency "pitching" up and down with the flexibility of the velcro, etc....So, yes the helmet mount works just fine, but doesn't give a good feel for speed and lean angle, and of course, the wind noise is terrible...
