Was at sears a few weeks ago, knew their "evolve" line of junk was made in China, but i noticed that now even their regular Craftsman branded tools were all made in China. Can't even get a f*ckin made in USA wrench anymore for a halfway decent price!!!!! What gives :mad

What are you tool junkies on a budget doing to still buy made in USA stuff? Or is this impossible now? Need a new torque wrench, been looking at 'Proto' stuff and probably gonna pull the trigger. Don't mind spending the coin on a fine measurement tool, but their regular old wrenches are pretty spendy too and donno if it's feasible to start picking that stuff up since i can't go down to the local store and pick it up.

Discuss (no i don't wanna hear about snap on :twofinger )

looooots of craftsman vs husky vs kobalt discussion around there.

i like kobalt, not much experience with husky. some is made domestic, some china, all of it "feels" better than craftsman of late. feel is a bullshit metric for durability but..... don't tell a hooker that.

if you have patience and someknowledge, craigslist tools section is a friggin goldmine

Made in China != automatically shitty. China has both high quality and low quality goods.

As for Craftsman tools, it's a tool. If it works it works. Made in China or not the lifetime warranty still applies does it not? Buy it, use it till it breaks (IF you even reach that heavy a usage level) then take it back and get a new one.

I'd recommend buy once cry once with Snap-on, but you said no preemptively so yeah.

:thumbup I Love Kobalt tools. The Love affair started with their ratcheting screwdriver (who would of thought a screw driver could be re-engineered?)

Then the 40 volt cordless power tools. OMG that little battery is the best ever,
I even have the cordless chain saw, Pole saw, weed-eater, and lawn mower.

I'm a retired tool & die maker.. I know tool steels, finishes, tolerances, manufacturing processes. :thumbup

I don't think you can get craftsman pro wrenches anymore, although they were a really nice looking wrench. I was pissed at my Mac tool dealer. He was charging me a made in USA puller price that was made in China. When I look on his truck I barked and said is there anything on this truck not imported??!!. So even on the tool trucks that we pay top dollar tools for is getting harder to find "made in usa".

Snap on Blueline

Blue Point you mean?

If you're gonna buy from the Snap-On truck...then buy Snap-On. For the most part it's stuff they design and make. Blue Point is just outsourced and rebranded. You can probably find the original maker (K-D, Lisle, and so on) if you look hard enough. And you you pay Snap-On truck markup either.
