Just got back from Hawaii a few days ago and have a craving for some shellfish. Got my fill of fresh fish while back home but since my return I've been craving some real good oysters. Any spots you guys like or can recommend?? Please list them! :cool

Should you find yourself in Oakland, go to Pear. My buddy is a chef there. Great food!

Thanks all!!! I'm off to Hawgs! :p

Sane Man, any particular spot in Bodega Bay? I'v never been there... :cool

I will be going up to oregon pretty soon and can go pick them from a private oyster Farm:thumbup, then bring them back down and have a open shell BBQ:party, Too bad I dont share my oysters:p

Of course I go to visit the family, but going home to Virginia is always a treat. My folks live on the Chesapeake Bay, about 10 minutes from a town called Oyster, and about anoher 10 minutes from a town called Cherrystone. And the soft-shelled crab is awesome.

Was there today.....Tomales Bay Oyster farm....delicious.

:thumbup I was up that way, too. Hiked in Salt Point S.P., and learned how to identify edible, wild mushrooms! Had a nice, big dinner of chicken and 'shrooms, and forgot all about stopping for oysters on the way back! :cry

(BTW Be careful if you're riding up CA-1...gravel here and there and I came around a corner and almost hit a cow!)

Ya'll haven't had seafood until you have done in it Alaska. Razor Clams galore.

Although meaty, I can't get over the grit that just can't be completely purged out of razor clams. What I loved the most about Alaska was the huge $5 buckets of king crab legs I had. :drool :love :banana

I have absolutely no idea why this thread made me think of this famous cinema exchange:
:rofl

Marcus Licinius Crassus: Do you eat oysters?
Antoninus: When I have them, master.
Marcus Licinius Crassus: Do you eat snails?
Antoninus: No, master.
Marcus Licinius Crassus: Do you consider the eating of oysters to be moral and the eating of snails to be immoral?
Antoninus: No, master.
Marcus Licinius Crassus: Of course not. It is all a matter of taste, isn't it?
Antoninus: Yes, master.
Marcus Licinius Crassus: And taste is not the same as appetite, and therefore not a question of morals.
Antoninus: It could be argued so, master.
Marcus Licinius Crassus: My robe, Antoninus. My taste includes both snails and oysters.

You could always just go to Race St. and pick up some oysters. Maybe have some fish and chips while you're there as well.
