I'll bet he just watched Magic Mike while eating mushrooms.

Agreed. I've walked by many a naked crazy person in SF. However - attacking females? I like to think I would have intervened, and probably subsequently got my ass kicked, which is actually the best case scenario against that dude.![]()
Now if everyone had a gun... At what point could we all open fire? Or does just the person getting attacked get to shoot?

IMO lethal force wasn't necessary in that situation, he wasn't attacking anyone (well not enough to warrant being shot) and didn't have any weapons. I'm all for concealed carry but that would have been a bad idea unless it escalated. Even if someone presented a firearm I don't think it would even register with him, and unless you plan to shoot it should stay holstered.
A shot from a taser would have ended quickly and safely and maybe some OC if necessary (indoors in a public place though).
When seconds count, the police are just minutes away.
Someone with a CCW would have easily solved this situation.
But what about the 7 years in prison for shooting an unarmed man?

Had she had AND BEEN TRAINED with a gun, problem would have been solved. Had someone else in the area possessed and been trained with a gun, problem could have been solved.
necessary to stop him from bothering those helpless people? I would have tried.IMO lethal force wasn't necessary in that situation, he wasn't attacking anyone (well not enough to warrant being shot) and didn't have any weapons.
Cop station 1.5 blocks away yet you never see a cop hanging out at 16th and Mission. Drive by? Yes. Stop? noooooo. Granted, i don't hang out there all day but, judging from the character of those who do, police presence must be at a minimum if at all.
Bart police? Nowhere to be found. I give the one Bart employee some props for keeping that guy away from some of the passengers and engaging in defending them. Clearly, Mr. Crackie was f'ed up but had some skills (half gainer off the turnstile and landed flat on his feet!) and it wasn't that employees job to engage - which again reminds me, where were the guys who do have the job of providing bart security?
Indeed, it's sad that so many walk by just thinking, "yep, another day in paradise." Oh, props to bicycle guy that gave Crackie a kick.
Never understood why there is not a BART cop in each station. There are 44 stations and more than 200 BART cops. Why not just station one cop in each station and have the rest riding the trains.
I really never understood why BART cops have cars and drive from station to station. Isn't the whole point of BART to get people out of cars and are the cops going anywhere other than where the trains go? Seems stupid.
