Cycle Gear Return Policy

I bought a pair of Fox Knee/Shin guards that I used for Mountain Biking, but I think I want a more protective set. I used them once and took a couple of spills in them, so they are bit scratched.

I still have the receipt and packaging. What are your experiences with their 100% satisfaction guarantee? Is it similar to REI with the 100% refund?

They will most probably take them.

I will cause they agree with me and encourage it. <-- thats the part you can't wrap around your head around.

Your for every 1 customer comment shows you have no clue what you are talking about and shows how high you hold yourself compared to others.

That's what i'm saying.. The serial returner sees nothing wrong, as they see that it is their right to freely return as dictated by the retailer.

No abuse at all...

It's really just people who grew up with some sense of entitlement.:p

I can tell - this is a great idea because one of you will change your minds and act differently as a result of this moral debate.

Cycle Gear is awesome. I love their policies, and that (like REI) they still trust their customers to do what is right and not abuse their goodwill. They will absolutely take those back, as they will anything you want to give back, for any reason, in any condition that you bought from them.

For this reason, I do all the shopping I can with them, both because the guarantee comes in handy, and to reward them for their trust.

+1. I buy almost all my gear at CG because when the gloves I bought there fell apart after a few months, they just gave me a refund.

They have definitely had (much) more business from me due to this policy.

If I feel CG sells a lot of that forced me to constantly buy and return something, i'd probably look elsewhere to buy my motorcycle needs.

But that's just me.

Stan23 you are a pro at dodging bullets! Can we just let this whole thing die now? To answer your question

I stopped buying from CG about 6 months ago since most of the stuff I get just falls apart. The only thing I got from CG that still holds up is my A* trackpants that I crashed in. Oh wait mebbe that is the secret! I need to crash in the gear to make it last :rofl

Honestly as I am writting this I am looking at my Dainese jacket that has a busted zipper after owning it for 8 months and my Ogio backpack that is busting at the seams and the clips for holding the helmet broke after maybe 5 uses. I am not hard on my stuff, as a matter of fact I like to baby most things I own to get the most outta them until they get older and then I trash them but with that being said most stuff I get from CG dies and does it quickly!

That right there is why I have a hard time not shopping there.

Except helmets.

You get 7 days. They even tell you take it home and USE IT to make sure it fits.

Must be a new policy. I was going to buy a helmet in the Modesto store a couple years ago, mentioned the return policy and was told that helmets were an exception.

I even inquired up the chain of command got ahold of some guy in Benicia (I think) that acted like it would be a big deal to accommodate me (not impolite or anything like that), which I understand, who wants to buy a used helmet? But I decided to hell with taking a chance with the pricier helmets being as noisy as the cheapos and went that route.

They're carrying the same stuff as everyone else - Dianese, A*, Icon, etc.

If the problem is quality, stop buying the cheaper stuff. At least at CG, you know you can return it if it's not up to snuff... it's actually more in their best interest than other retailers to only sell durable high-quality goods, because they have to eat it if the customer isn't happy.

+1 :thumbup
And I never want them to regret their trusting policy.
Same sort of thing applies to trying on helmets & leathers there, only to give the final purchase to a web site.
Frankly I am growing more and more tired of the "fuck em, I've got mine... Me first" attidute that seems to permeate our society.

Key word there is trust. And if, as a community we violate that trust by just returning shit because we changed our mind and don't want it, we'll lose that trust, their costs will go up and the policy will disappear. Hence the feeling among a lot of us that there is a line between making use of the policy and abusing the policy.

sadly i was at the D-store in SF and noticed some pants with some busted zippers :/

so its jut not CG that has some products with QC issues... even the boutique stores will have em...

sadly, the green D-Dry jacket from Dainese is marked "Made in China." but still costs 600 buxorssssss.

at least the pants are made in Romania... a little closer to "made in italy"

Cycle Gear sells the same lines as everyone else. The retailer has nothing to do with the quality of the product nor do they force you to buy something that is inferior because it's convenient.

The helmet policy used to be 30 days but was reduced to seven because of a$$clown$ who treated it like their own personal helmet rental service.

Who was the guy that claimed to be some regional supervisor that told me otherwise then, I wonder?

OK fair enough!

I've had my share of failed gear, but usually within a reasonable amount of time -- maybe a year or two of daily use. At no point would I even think of returning, even if given the option, especially if I can fix the zipper myself.

I dunno, but it's right at the top of their webpage. http://www.cyclegear.com/nohassle.cfm

He was either lying, kidding, or someone misunderstood the other.

Right, as long as you don't ride in it, they'll take it back.

No Hassle 7-Day Helmet Exchange

New street helmets may be exchanged for another helmet of any value provided the returned helmet is in new and unused condition with all of it's original packaging and accessories. In order to protect our customers, helmets exchanged under this program may not be ridden in, dirty, scuffed, chipped or damaged in any way.

So, try one out. Wear it around the house, watch old race videos, eat dinner in it (try to avoid pasta!) and if you just don't like it, bring it back! If your helmet was purchased online, we'll pay your return shipping charges for one exchange, as long as it's just for a different size (must be the same make, model and color).

This 7-Day period begins on the date when delivery of your new helmet to the shipping address in your order is confirmed. If you make your purchase in a store, the 7-Day period begins on the date of purchase
