Just wondering, will Cycle Gear exchange an item if I lost my receipt? Scenario: Bought a helmet, had my receipt and made an exchange for a different size. Now I want to exchange the newer helmet (never worn) for a different color but lost the receipt, demmit! Will they do it? Can't they look up my purchase on their system? Hell, I by stuff from them almost every month anyways. thanks

I think on helmets your only allowed 1 exchange but If your persistent and nice Im sure they will take care of you plus your in Sac the staff at that location seems a little more lenient than others I've been too

If they are able to look up my purchases they will see that I rarely return/exchange items since I'm usuallly satisfied with the products.

They were a big pia to me last time I returned a defective product. They made me produce a receipt, which by some miracle I found in my wallet, and then they refused to have the item brought in from another store, refused to let me pick it up from another store, and made me wait three weeks for them to order it. They had one in stock in a town I was passing through that day, and would not honor my return at that store.

I don't harbor any hard feelings about the receipt, despite the smug look on the cashier's face as I searched for the receipt everywhere. But, not letting me pick one up from another store and having to wait three weeks was bs.

Your experience may vary

Fwiw, that was the first and only time that I have ever had to return anything at Cycle Gear. I had always heard of their "no hassle" return policy, and that was one of the reasons that I shopped there. But quite frankly, it was a hassle, and they may have lost my business forever.

Last time I bought a helmet there, it was repeated to me several times that I could not return the helmet, only exchange it or something. The checker made a big deal out of it but I didn't think much of it. Could have been because it was a closeout. Never hurt to bring it in and ask, maybe voice your opinion about the situation...

This is why I will NEVER buy a helmet from Cycle Gear. Damage to the helmet can go unnoticed. You may be the most scrupulous customer ever and would never return a helmet that wasn't 100% pefect. But others will try and get away with it. I don't want to be wearing someone else's problem when I expected to get a perfect brand new helmet that I was paying for.

Return anything else - gloves, boots, jackets. But you gotta ask yourself - would you wear undies someone returned? Why would you think that a returned helmet would be ok but returned undies wouldn't. Then again, there are some who pay extra for used undies. Why not try and turn a profit on your used helmet? :twofinger

yes, if it was recent, they should be able to find your receipt, and reprint for you.

had to do this with a gopro i received as a gift, and gopro wouldn't do jack shit to help me without a receipt (even though the issue was with the mount, not a missing/damaged piece)....on top of reprinting the receipt, cycle gear offered to let me swap parts with one they had going back to gopro anyway, which solved my problem :thumbup

You can exchange new / unworn helmets, but only within 7 days, and street helmets only. CG used to be a little more lenient, but so many people abused the shit out of their return policy that the company changed it. Ask the folks who worked there... The guys at my local store told a couple of customer return stories that made my jaw drop.

In the day and age of computers, if you can produce the cc you paid for the item with and ID to show it's you there's no reason to need an original receipt...they can just call it up in the computer.

I've had good experiences with cycle gear returns. I would order stuff online and return it to the SF store.

As said before they have a 7 day policy on their helmets but tbh they seem to bee pretty good about their returns and dont seem to give much of an issue to people
