Daytona 200 - 75th Anniversary $$ - Spoiler alert duh!

I am not a huge fan of the venue because, just like Indy, it is a made-up road course shoved into a high-speed oval. And I wish we had something more appropriate for motorcycles for the "big race". However, it is what it is. And I fully support having a big race, anywhere and anytime. Unfortunately, we are missing previous winners, including our local Joey Pascarella, which is not particularly encouraging for AMA sponsorships. Fingers crossed for MotoAmerica.

I don't want to take anything away from Michael Barnes.

But what does it say about the 200 that it was won by a 47 year old.

well, as an OG with 2 decades on Barney, I could protest -
however, his age isn't even the story

while personal fave & former Buell/EBR racer Geoff May's certainly no slouch, he's no Ago or King Kenny, etc. -
beyond Geoff in 2nd & our local hero in 3rd - exactly whom of any stature was present at the start?

I'll rate the field as weak, or even weaker, than than 2014 or 2015 runnings - won, of course, by another ex-Bueller hero, the currently very-lo-profile 'slick.....

The Daytona 200 has recently been the best-paying US ProAm M/C endurance event - period
