Yeah, Luke we're going to need to see pictures in order to properly ascertain as to which bike would be the best fit for her learning purposes :teeth

1) CL is definitely populated with antisocial retards

2) Get your girl to Rich Oliver's Mystery School. In my experience you can crash into trees and grind his bike into the dirt repeatedly in one day and he does a good job of trying to hide how miffed he is about it :laughing

Get her fully insured for collision, rent a (small) bike from one of the many rental shops in town. I personally had a great experience with US Motorcycle Rentals, and I hear very good things about Dubbelju. I know Dubbelju has Triumph Bonnevilles which are nice and low to the ground and very easy to handle.

Also, don't respond to idiots on craigslist. What were you thinking?

This happens a lot, I even showered this morning. :dunno

Maybe that was your mistake. :dunno Remember the letter that Napoleon sent to Josephine? ;)

she is not timid or scared. and she is very strong and has finesse.
But not enough finesse to start on the gixxer [skeptical]she[/skeptical] bought for her first bike.

she did not purchase a motorcycle to learn on. she purchased one to ride.
This is the "Definition of IGNORANT. Can you believe this person?!?"

we all know what happens when the correct motorcycle is purchased for a beginner (Ninja 250), besides the SUPER important fact that they learn on one appropriate. unfortunately we are not fortunate enough to afford a beginners bike, intermediate bike and a race bike for her when she wants to do a track day.
Well, she was able to afford something big and shiny. How much money was left over for gear?

good point/question....probably the most important one asked here, that is after the most important one...Is she hawt???

ouch...gixxer as a first bike!? crazy, started on an 08 250 myself, shulda gone with an older model though, way cheaper, pretty much the same, also wouldve hurt ALOT less when i dropped it. Many MANY useful comments on this, mainly being, why doesnt she ride her own bike? Why'd she buy such a nice bike to begin with? Dont take this the wrong way OP (if you ever come back in here to read this that is, haha), but you shouldve talked her OUT of buying the gixxer and something smaller...

I think the underlying frustration factor for LukeBz is having a girlfriend with a sweet powerful motorcycle in the garage combined with the girlfriend not having the skills/confidence to ride it.

Passing MSF type training programs may automatically get you a M1 license but it doesn't automatically install the self confidence needed for riding a big bike.

I think LukeBz is on the right track by getting the gf some more seat time on a smaller bike. With some more time and mileage under her belt hopefully her self confidence in her skills will grow into happily riding the big bike.

Quite possibly one of the greatest sentences I have read on BARF...something new riders should all understand...and a few of those who have experience, but try to start their buddies on something too powerful.

My thoughts are that you shouldn't have posted this.
