Dilbert comic, writer made some racist rant, now off my local paper

Yeah, the artistic medium he built his wealth off of is effectively dying if not already dead, he has accumulated enough wealth off it in his day where consequences are meaningless to him.

This just appears to be the last of the Boomers, Boomering out in un-shockingly Boomeristic fashion.

The impact to him and the world at large shall be exceptionally small, lol.

:dunno

Gen X Musk came to his side to agree wholeheartedly that us white folks are indeed being discriminated against.

I guess I missed the memo.

Just think of what Musk could have accomplished had he not been discriminated against.

Pretty ironic with one of this guys book titles:

'Loserthink: How Untrained Brains Are Ruining America'
Adams suggests that many otherwise intelligent people are trapped by unproductive ways of thinking.

This bugs me as a longtime cubicle dweller I loved Dilbert’s humor and some of the strips are still on my wall as they nailed the office dynamic perfectly - but more than that was that my Dad gave me some of his books as a gift and signed them as he knew I enjoyed them. Since his passing I’ve treasured them because of his personal touch and now this assholery just... taints them a bit.

:(

Please don't think that... they were given to you with the best of intentions.

It's a good thing to separate people from their actions, like if hitler helped an old lady across the street, it'd be silly to think that helping an old lady across the street must be bad.

I get the tainting though. It took me a long while to be able to enjoy a Michael Jackson song.

One caveat is continuing to fund something you don't want to fund.

RU Gryffindor 4 life?

I'd have thought we'd be in agreement here, because the only reason why someone would allow an unwavering connection between people and their actions would be from a flood of emotions, where the feelings about a person are so strong that nothing they do could possibly be right/wrong.

I had no idea when I posted that this slogan was associated with the assholery. If poll subjects knew of this connotation, well, that’s another thing.

I had no clue either.

Who knows where it came from, but once assholers grab it and identify with it and labelling occurs there is no going back.

:laughing

A good call all the way around.

Oh, for me, for sure.

I don't really care too much if a product manufacturer is of questionable moral decisions, uses child labor, suffocates endangered minks up their ass for pleasure or whatever.

If they make a product I like at a price I like, I will consume it with a clear conscience as long as they do not pollute the product with whatever gross decisions they are into.

If I allowed the politics of the participants to pollute my product consumption I would have to be alone in the woods making everything myself. :laughing

It wouldn’t be my way to go, but it’s a way. In this rude and angry society, he said something bound to be interpreted in the worst possible way and got canceled. He might be trying to make a point, I dunno.

Dude had a long career and I’m not as convinced this slip up is evidence of a lifelong raciest if that’s the accusation, maybe raciest for a day, if that’s any better. Or as you propose could be a case of trying to make a point without any conviction or considering how it might come across.

A Twitter account and millions of followers is a ticking timebomb. You simply can’t please everyone all the time and we all stuck our foot in our mouth with stuff we don’t always mean or may not even believe. My filter is fairly course and I’m often misunderstood. Sorta how my brain works so I blame my parents.

I went on the Internet... and I found this:

Yeah it sucks how extreme of a life we'd need to live in order to not fund ugly stuff. I wish it were easier.
