Dirty Goodness On Trail 6 At Foresthill

Chick , I dig your 144, I've always had a thing for small bore 2 strokes like my KTM 125/200 EXC's and TM 125e they work the woods like nothing else . Loop 6 is one of my local favorites we like to run it clockwise as well as counterclockwise the shale stair steps are a blast. We like to cool off in the river under the larger bridge. (summertime only) We were planning to go this weekend but alas the snow level will be so low it won't work out . Oh well next spring. Thanks for the great Pics.

The best stuff I can think of that's somewhat near you ("near" being a relative term...) is on the Kern Plateau up in the Sequoia NF. It is really good stuff! Also known as Kennedy Meadows, it is all high-elevation singletrack in the southernmost end of the Sierra, tons of alpine meadows and one of the most beautiful places in all of CA. That can't be too far from you, right? How far is Bakersfield from you? It's many hours drive for me but it's so worth it. I go every year. That's another awesome ride report.

The Los Padres NF is quite close to me, but not all of it is open at any given time due to the fires recently and forest budget setbacks. I'm in santa barbara, so the Sequoia national forrest is a bit of a trek but definitely an option in the future. :) Thanks for the recommendations!
 
Wow Forest Hill looks Gnarly! I'm supposed to head up there soon with a group of guys, I hope I can handle it! Where I came from there was no hills or rocks!

:laughing I totally missed these posts! I was on vacation for a few weeks when you posted up. Sounds like you had a good time, yes? The trail is pretty cool, no doubt about it :) I wouldn't mind going back before the snow flies. {...sigh...} So any trails, so little time...

More resurrection! My buddy and I staged at China Wall and we rode 5 and 6 today, our first time there. Woodschick, I gotta say...I'm really impressed you enjoyed yourself on a 144-2t. Trail 5 was excellent, with only a few iffy areas. Trail 6 on the other hand...holy crap. Half of it is awesome and the other half is quite a challenge. Looks like we rode the same direction as you because we also had to climb that rubber/wire mess, I got lucky and went right up it. The parts that kill me are the switchbacks where you have to turn a tight 180 and immediately climb several feet of brutal rocks. I must have boiled the rear brake fluid because it totally disappeared down one of the canyons, as if things weren't tough enough! Anyway, good times, but I think I'll save Trail 6 for the times when I really want a workout.

:laughing Right on, byke :thumbup Glad you had a good time up there! What were you riding? My little Husky WR144 is unlike any other small-bore 2-stroke I've ever ridden, and I've ridden lots of them throughout the years. It's super-nimble, has a ridiculously tight turning radius, is really light and has surprising grunt and power. It's the perfect bike for someone my size...other than the towering seat height, of course :) A stealthy woods weapon, for sure.

Right, I bet the weight of that 144 was fantastic, that would have been quite helpful. You say it has low end, now I know you're a featherweight! My friend has an older klx300, which seems to be geared sooooooo much better than my bike.

very late to this thread but, I rode trail 6 twice trying each direction back in 2012. Kicked my butt both times! rocky switchbacks with massive drop offs. I think I burned off 10 lbs each time from the work out
