Do gay celebreties hurt their "cause" by flaunting it?

I have a gay uncle (heh - who doesn't these days?) and he HATES all things stereotypically gay. So, yes, anyone perpetrating the gay sterotypes makes it that much harder for him to be a non-effeminate gay man.

IS...

oh, wait... I'm not supposed to "flaunt." nvm.

I'm sure this has been said in this thread already (TL;DR) but heteros flaunt it all the time, everywhere. The problem isn't gay people "flaunting it", but heteros expecting them not to while being perfectly okay straight people who do the same.

And sure, some people don't want ANYONE flaunting any sexuality at all... I believe we call them prudes. :twofinger

Rubbing other people's face in something they don't like already is always going to be a bad strategic choice.

I don't mind gay people but can't stand flamer's prancing around trying to get a reaction out of straight people. If you aren't totally secure with yourself, don't over-compensate by flaunting it in everybody's face!

Please explain what you mean because I can't think of a reason to agree with you.

I think it all depends on the definition of "flaunting."

If simply stating "I like boobies" or "my wife went to the store" or "my BF made me dinner" is equivalent to "flaunting," then I suppose every single one of us is guilty. :dunno

Hetero Couple holding hands? Hetero couple kissing? Hetero couple eating dinner together? Hetero couple hugging?

I have to agree, if you're going to be a homo, be a prancing, flaming, flamboyant one. They're way more entertaining than the stuffy, uppity faggots debating which is better; True religion or seven jeans.

Seriously? Hetero couples on TV all hours of the day, in shows, movies and commercials, making out, having sex, etc. People freak out when two men innocently kiss on TV, and yet say nothing about all the hetero SEX scenes. What is up with that?
