A few coworkers and I were talking about this.

I feel like it's a reality that many of us simply chose to ignore or that we KNOW in the back of our head that it's rigged but just don't want to believe it.

Those who bet on games should probably know what I'm talking about.

Edit: I guess the 3rd poll option is redudant. If it's partly rigged I guess that just makes the game completely rigged huh? Guess that should be changed to the, "I think it's rigged, but choose to ignore it" option.

Why do you think that the Patriots "had" to win the 2001 Superbowl?? Tuck rule??

Mostly no but there are games that make me wonder if the fix is in. Maybe a lot of the obviously bad calls are the result of subconscious decisions to ensure the media darlings get all the breaks.

Yankees in World Series after 9/11 attacks (though they had a nice run the years before that, but the team wasn't the same that year?)
Saints win Super Bowl after Katrina
Women's Japanese team wins world cup after earthquake.

:dunno

There was one game that really made some of us change our mind. It was a college football game earlier this year. I forgot who the teams were, but basically Team A was up by around 30 points with about a minute to go till game over. Team A called a time out (for what?), went back on the field, and instead of taking a knee to end the game, they ran a play, scored a TD and covered the spread from Vegas.

I don't personally bet, but around people who always do and I check spreads for fun.

no simply because of the amount of people that would have to be involved and all of those people maintaining the secret

All I know is, I just read an article that said if the New York Giants win the Superbowl, it might break most Vegas Sports Bookies.

I'm rooting for my team now on a whole new level. :laughing

:laughing:rofl:laughing

that's how i feel ...

when i heard they're playing the niners in the playoffs, i'm like "wait...wut..???:wtf how..?? "

now i'm like.." gooooo GIANTS...(cuz it won't happen for another 10 years..)

If you consider point shaving as being "rigged," then the answer has to be an obvious yes. Players and referees have been caught for it in the past. Does it happen every game? I dunno, but it surely happens.

No Way. WWwoooooooooo!!!!!:thumbup

Ding ding ding.... 100 fucking percent!

well yeah i assumed he didn't mean pro wrestling or boxing. team sports with hundreds of players in the league, be kind of hard to rig stuff. although nba officiating...

There's bias in all sports.

I mean, the NBA is pretty much a joke based on certain players getting traded to big market teams for little to nothing, or players being able to demand they go where they want sort of thing.

The NFL has clear, obvious bias in favor of super stars. Guys like Tom Brady, Drew Brees, Aaron Rodgers get calls their way.

In baseball, there is a CLEAR discrepancy in the balls/strikes called to Yankees hitters and for Yankees pitchers.

Stuff can be pointed out in any sport.

I dunno about hockey. Fuck hockey. :rofl

I don't know the extent of the influence the "fix" has to be in the bigger sports. It is a large conspiracy to keep under wraps. But a shave here, blown call there, and the outcome can be influenced, if not completely coreographed. The examples I was going to list were already mentioned (Saints post Katrina, etc.)

Boxing, on the other hand, is clearly rigged. I still enjoy it, and I don't think all fights are fixed. A good indicator is whether or not Joe Cortez is the ref. Some judges also give consistently horrible scores.

There shouldn't be scores in boxing.

You keep going until somebody gets knocked the fuck out.
