Do you wear a watch?

weird, the description for the 556ib used to say the exact movement, i.e. ETA 2824. But now it's just
"Movement: Automatic mechanical"
https://www.watchbuys.com/store/pc/Sinn-556-I-B-Blue-Dial-on-Fine-Link-Bracelet-74p3551.htm

on Sinn's website https://www.sinn.de/en/Modell/556_I_B.htm
The information on the mechanical movement corresponds to the current production situation in Frankfurt am Main. Due to technical changes, it may happen in individual cases that stock items of our sales partners deviate from this information.

In addition to technology, the heart of any SINN watch is the fascinating mechanical movement. We use exclusively the very best quality of movements provided by renowned manufacturers with proven experience with whom we’ve been working for many years:

ETA SA Manufacture Horlogère Suisse, Grenchen, Switzerland
Concepto Watch Factory SA, La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland
Manufacture La Joux-Perret SA, La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland
SELLITA WATCH CO, La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland
Soprod SA, Les Reussilles, Switzerland
Uhren-Werke-Dresden, Germany
The movements are also manufactured in parts in accordance with our technical specifications.

roundabout way of saying "we're gonna slap whatever movement we have on hand in yer watch" :laughing

:dunno
you must be new here. This is a story since 15 years. They may or may have not stopped depending on current stock and etc contracts.

Swatch announced long ago they've stopped selling ETAs to competitors basically

That's like a wide statement. :laughing I do think so.
the one "microbrand" I have--Steinhart, I googled it, it's a little bigger, a "small brand' instead, has a Selitta inside.

OK...

https://watchbase.com/eta/caliber/2824-2

This site has a list of watches that use just one of ETA's calibers.

Tudor, Steinhart, Defakto, Stowa, Tudor, Sinn, Limes, Van Der Gang, Laco, CODE41, Formex, Doxa

None of these are Swatch group brands.

I guess it wasn't clear to everybody, at some point they stopped selling them to others, say in 2005. Then recently started again, because they are allowed to. In the meantime, whoever had stock, still used it. :dunno
That means any random Google link you pull, will not specify in which exact year, which model used what.

And finally, pretty sure by now others have shifted to sometimes using other brands' movements anyway--like GNAHC's example from Sinn shows. :dunno🤷‍♂️

Here is a wrist-shot of a Selitta "Rolex GMT" homage with goats. I hope that doesn't mean it's a Batman ... because what GNAHC posted about robberies in OaklaMd!!! Hint: it's not a Rolex, because I put it on a rubber strap on purpose...

I clicked through on a random watch on the site I linked:

CODE41 - AN02-IN-SIL-ST-BK
Anomaly-02 Stainless Steel / Silver
Brand: CODE41
Family: Anomaly-02
Reference: AN02-IN-SIL-ST-BK
Name: Anomaly-02 Stainless Steel / Silver
Movement: ETA caliber 2824-2
Hours, Minutes, Seconds | Date
Produced: 2016
Limited: No

It's definitely true that brands will sometimes mix and match movements. the ETA 2824 and SW200 are essentially the same movement, just produced by different companies.

I clicked through on a random watch on the site I linked:

... BUT: it's missing both my watch and HH's Stowa watch.

so.. whatever? what's in is in.

Oh Yea, I am 100% sure the site is not a complete database, plenty of things are missing

It is a cool site though. especially looking up the many versions of a specific caliber

20 year anniversary gift to myself!

That is pretty fucking dope. Mazal tov

Edit: user name does not check out.

LOL! Yea, sorry about that. I won't disappoint. Here's a pic of the rest of my stash (mostly) that justifies my username. The Tag was my honeymoon gift to myself, and the Omegas were random purchases over the years.

And actually, the username came from back in the days of "the new internet thingy." I needed to come up with an e-mail address, and since I was in the midst of my ME degree....maths, sciences, physics and all that....the omega sign always intrigued me. Viola!....omegajeff.

The Speedmaster is a Broad Arrow. I got it....maybe....18 years ago?? Something like that. Here's a better pic from another site.
The Seamaster is the Aqua Terra. I've had it for probably 10 to 15 years. I love both watches, that's why I still have them. They both wear very differently both in look and feel. Both beautiful pieces that get noticed quite often.

super cool :thumbup

The short rubber strap arrived recently for my new AT. The standard length was too long for my small wrist.
The Omega rubber strap is definitely more comfy than my Alpina. Deployment clasp is really nice as well.
