Does Anyone Get Popped For Using The HOV Lane?

I've had quite a few mannequins and piles of stuff with the seatbelt over it, people pointing at empty car seats in the back, and just a couple weeks ago got someone with homemade HOV stickers

Holy shit! Nice catch. How the hell did you figure that one out?

I have a car with the real car pool stickers :D

But the previous owner put them in the wrong spots. :rolleyes

i used to go in the carpool lane for a few years with my toddler in the back and got pulled over a couple of times. I put a " BABY BIKER ONBOARD" sticker and hasn't been pulled over since.

new fines for carpool lane violations are over $500

So, hmm...

I saw him a couple months before but I was on the right shoulder, the color green didn't look right and I hesitated too much to be worth chasing him down. Next time I saw him I was in the center divide and knew it, not to mention he had them attached with Velcro (maybe remove while parking?) so they were a few mm off the car

Twice I've seen green stickers on cars that obviously didn't qualify. Once on a Firebird(!), and once on a Benz. Both were in gas stations filling them up at the time I saw them.

I've never seen that but there are a lot of 4.6 Ford F-150 and crown Vic's with white stickers for ng, must be a popular conversion kit

Fleet owners could order NG versions direct from Ford. They had them when I worked at PG&E. I've also seen AT&T Ford Econoline vans with the stickers.

They are probably making there way out onto the used market now.

That is one brutal commute, you're spending 5 hours a day driving to and from work?!?

I typically go into San Francisco a couple of nights a week (staying over night). If I am making a day trip I take the bike as I can literally be in traffic for up to 8 hours round trip in the car!

Overhead we see a Boeing DC3 fly over in the morning and the afternoon. Its got to be a commuter plane from Stockton or Sacramento.

Some guy got caught because his mannequin wasn't wearing a seat belt.

The ones of you that want to risk it, is it because you don't believe the law should exist, or don't believe it should apply to you?

Pretty sure it was still Douglas when the DC-3 was built. Not Boeing until decades later.

I've wondered about this.

sorry didn't see initial response.

What is the violation?

I think it creates more problems than it solves...

I was on 80 east bound (Right before Fitzgerald Drive) in the #2 lane, when I remembered I had to go to the bank. The #3 and #4 were completely stopped and it would be really hard to get to the exit. So I went through the carpool lane and up the carpool exit. A Pinole moto was at the top just waiting.:party

Good thing you were heading to the bank!!! :)

I'm not sure why anyone would manufacture carpool tags or use a mannequin. Haven't they ever heard of tinted windows?

One time I did see a fully tinted audi sedan get caught on 680 around Danville. It was heavy traffic and the carpool lane was going maybe 30 mph, the other lanes around 10 mph. The CHP moto cop was splitting in normal position, and casually passes the Audi. Audi driver plays it cool and stays in position; realizes that if he panics and leaves the carpool lane, his goose is cooked. Moto cop then moves over to the far right lane like nothing was going on. Once the Audi reached his 7:30 o'clock, the cop shot his head around, and looked across 3+ lanes of traffic while splitting, completely peering through the Audi's untinted front window, and verified it was a solo driver. Then he dropped back again, split back over to the carpool lane, and pulled the Audi over, gesticulating like he was super pissed. I don't think anyone else realized what had just happened, but I thought it was a pretty clever and heroic effort by the cop :laughing :cool

My shitty ex wife uses a doll in a car seat to exploit the HOV lane. If there are any north bay LEOs reading, she drives a blue Mazda 3 hatchback :laughing
