Dolphin massacre in Japan

That video was seriously biased! The exact same thing happens for tuna fishing in spain (or is it along the coast of north-western africa) where they round up a school of fish in nets with boats all around it and go to town on them. The only difference is how dolphins are romanticized in American culture, almost to the point of ponies and puppies.

I agree that they could make an effort to kill them faster, but until they start having crazy animal activists in Japan like they do here, it's not gonna happen. You think the beef industry decided to kill cattle by shooting a bolt through their head on their own?

UNGH... the poor dolphins. At least in whaling, they use explosive harpoons that puts that whale out of its misery (relatively) quickly. It was painful to watch the dolphin get stabbed and spasm as it bled out

As Shotline stated dolphins may be sentient and are extremely intelligent, Tuna are just dumb fish.

I'd say suffocating is a pretty harsh way to die... when I catch them, I just normally throw them in the cooler... they flop around a bit until dead.

I'm low-tech so I usually do the dirty deed with a smooth stone. I don't really do that kind of stuff with small bait fish though... only fishies 6+".

Jes no its not at least not IMO, at least when I kill that Salmon I crush its dome in quick, Hali's I shoot them before we even bring them on board so eather way its quick.

I just let the fish I catch wriggle and die in my cooler. Now, if you have a cooler the size of a dumpster, you can put a dolphin in there and not watch it die. It's still got to die before you eat it...

I'm Japanese and most of the Japanese people I know that live there would also disapprove of disemboweling a live dolphin. It's just a matter of public awareness. Kind of like how folks in the US don't freak out about dioxins and horomone pollution as much as the rest of the developed nations.
