Don't sell shit on eBay to India!

Yeah, I shipped stuff home from Kashmir and most all of it was stolen in the mail. Piss-ant turd-world experience.

By the same token, my ex-wife mailed a small check at the 7th (or 8th?) Street mailbox in Berkeley (she works at Bayer) at parking lot entrance to work. The check was made out to her tax preparer. Check was taken, either from mailbox or IN post office. Chemically altered to payee and amount, made out to $500. Taken TO Mechanics Bank branch in Oakland WhERE THEY CASHED IT! So we're getting multiple levels of turd-world fail here, too.

I was just wondering. Did the chickens, frankincense and myrrh that he sent for payment arrive safely?

On that note, my wife is from Suriname, South America, a former Dutch colony (Dutch Guyana), and you can't send shit there without it getting stolen.

sorry for the loss. that is a nice watch. next time sell it on BARF one of us would probably bought it.

I've had similar stories. I only do transactions locally now lol.

EDIT: that way.. if they try anything crazy I'll cut them with my knife ;)

I worked with this russian guy who when he'd ship stuff home would layer the box. He'd put the stuff he wanted to get there on the bottom, cover it, then a layer of magazines, cover it, then a layer of candy bars and close the box and mail it. His reasoning was that the box would get opened several times in transit and stuff taken out and stolen so, hopefully by the time the package made it to his folks, the important stuff would still be on the bottom...

I think the best way to do your type of transaction here in the bay area is to have buyer find an Indian friend who's local and have you and that friend meet face to face to exchange cash for watch.

I'm sure every Indian knows every other Indian.

I mean, hey, small country, right? Only a billion people...

It's pretty amazing how many Indians in India knows somebody here in the bay area. They're very networked back there in India, all it takes is for somebody from the same town to be here and you've got the transaction going. (At least it seems Indians who's got the money to buy things online.)

You know you're supposed to pass it after the first couple of puffs, right?

I was basing on some friends' experiences wrt India, and you are basing on?

Oh heck, even I can probably find somebody from almost any Indian town by just emailing my current and previous cos. The Indians are very connected to each other, if you know 1, you can probably reach 100 more.

You'd still need to know about 10 Million. :p
