Double Bubble - for looks or for (much improved) aerodynamics

Ok. So I was told this weekend that a double bubble windshield is only for looks and would really only help if the rider was really tall. I was told by a different rider in the same group that double bubble is the only way to go regardless of height or looks.

I personally like the stock shape better than the double bubble. But if it will make that much of a difference aerodymics wise, I'll use a double bubble. I'm only 5'9" is height is any consideration.

Anyone care to give me some input?

double bubble is most effective at speeds beyond 120mph . But normal freeway riding approx 80mph. You most likely wont feel the difference. IMHO

+1 but if you plan to start embarking on the track then you might as well and you can tell a difference riding on the street depending on how aggressive you ride.

im gonna take a guess and say you DONT have a double bubble. you can tell a huge difference at just about any speed above 40

+1 I'm over 6' and definitely feel a difference between the stock screen and the ZG DB on my K6.

For me the screen's aerodynamics mean nothing. It is for function only -- I run one so I can put helmet behind the windscreen in a tuck. This is for 1st gen SV650 w/GSXR glass. Stock GSXR windscreen shape interferes with my helmet in a tuck - the faceshield smashes against the top lip and that makes my head stick up in the windstream. So. . . I suppose you could say this is inadvertently for aerodynamics, but not in the way you might think.

YMMV for your motorcycle.

I have one that i run on the track, but on the street its all stocky. So i have not compared the double bubble on the street but at 80 mph on the track and 80 mph on the freeway it feels the same. and between 40-80mph there is not enough wind to to make me want to run one on the street (im 6' 1" BTW).

Really hoping this is the case. Picking up a Puig on Wednesday for my 636, which must have been designed for 5'2" japanese people, because my 6'1" ass feels like I'm riding underwater.

it prob depends a ton on the specific bike and rider, but ive heard plenty of ppl state that they cant stand the extra wind buffeting they get straight on their helmet w/ a DB. the flow of the air is def shifted upwards w/ the DB... whether or not thats a good thing depends highly on your riding position and height.

Definitely can tell the difference (for me at least). Makes for a quieter ride too (not getting full brunt of the wind to the helmet).
