Dreaded Desmo service

Everything is on Youtube.

I had my 996s and my MTS 1200 done at Nichols for about $2K for both, including a rear shock rebuild on the 996 in 2017.

Do you realize it takes 24 hours to peel shit off a Duc to get to the work? And another 24 to put it back??

:laughing

:twofinger

#FakeNews

Actually, that all depends on the model. I can strip a Tamburini superbike down in a few hours.
Newer Ducs are a pain.

Desmo valves are incredibly difficult to adjust. :laughing

Not the first gen 4 valvers or the air cooled 2 valve. Super, super easy. I'd rather do those than any Japanese inline. The Testastretta is another thing.

Mad

if you dont mind me asking. how much were you quoted for the full desmo?

Stuff came up and I did not get there. Be a couple weeks now.

I did not get a quote. Sorry.

I will be doing my desmo service on my '13 Multi very soon.
Maybe I should take pictures and make a BARF Desmo Instructables - I have taken the plastics on and off many times and have been able to do it fairly quick by now.

It's worth the trip to take the bike to Advanced Cycle Services.

I used to go to Nichols when Jim Davis was there, but he split off and opened ACS. He's my all-time favorite motorcycle mechanic and I always enjoyed visiting his shop. Plus you can trust his work and that he won't do more than your bike needs, but he'll often do the small things that he notices need fixing without charging extra.

Pretty much this.

Just give Jim a call... he's good peeps.
