If you've got a twin just keep one exhaust pipe on for back noise and take the other one off completely, with the header, for front noise and additional exhaust valve cooling.
If you follow my old neighbors logic, as soon as you come home hose off your burning hot air cooled engine with ice cold garden hose water....to help it cool down faster.
