DUCATI OF SANTA CRUZ ROBBED

this is why we can't have nice things -_-

What you can "afford" is interesting. I had a teacher in HS who spend a great deal of time talking about real world stuff. You know, like how eating vegatables was a lot cheaper than eating meat, and how to balance your checkbook.

One of his "sermons" was on what you can afford. He used people that had expensive jewelry and wore paste imiations of it when they went out and kept it all locked away in a safe. If they could really afford it, they could afford to lose it.

It is a good way to go through life. When you make a purchase, you should be able to dump it, and either get the insurance back or not care.

If you are in a position in life where you can drop 20K and not flinch, then riding a Ducati for fun is for you. If you are a guy who does nothing for 3 years saving every dime, eating mac n cheese so you can scrimp up the down, then finances it, you may want to reconsider your priorities. :2cents

Ok... but what if you just steal it? :p

You know what, having your shit stolen is part of being able to afford it.

To walk around and think that it doesn't happen is naive, and to not protect yourself is to not be prepared.

Stuff is stuff, it isn't worth killing people over and it isn't worth losing sleep over. If your stuff is important, have it insured. If you can live without it and don't want to pay the insurance, don't.

It is similiar to the track bike mentality. If you have a dedicated track bike, you need to be prepared to throw it off the side of the proverbial cliff. If someone else accidently causes you to wreck, you don't get all vendetta / I hate that dude about it. It is just the way it is.

It is good to be prepared for theft, but that doesn't mean we should just accept theft as ok and a normal part of life.

Also, there are plenty of cases where the damage of theft cannot be combated. Identity theft? IP theft? You can't insure against those.

Well, I believe the OP said they had just very recently started business. If they had limited capitol when they started, and were planning on getting insurance later, that would be understandable. Not the safest route, but understandable.

No not understandable in the slightest. How could a business that keeps customers property on thier premise NOT have insurance? That in itself should be a crime.

You don't have to repeat what Archimedes already said. And my humblest apologies, I forgot that they would have other's property on the premises.
