That's just about all there was before BARF got started. And a few Ducati mailing lists that I'm still on, but don't get any traffic anymore.I thought they couldn't do wheelies, either.... in Ba.Motorcycles

that shaft-driven motorcycles can't be counter-steered.
No, no, no. Everybody knows shaft-driven bikes can't wheelie!.

Regards tires:
I see many threads stating you should always replace a tubeless tire after a puncture ... and many do this today. Plug it to get it to a shop, then buy a brand new tire!
At around $200 a pop for a wide rear tire ... unless there is serious damage or side wall damage, then, for me, that tire is getting a plug and hopefully will live out its' service life as intended.
A well done plug is safe and an inside Mushroom plug is even better.
But apparently many riders toss that new tire in the bin (and you can bet the shop monkeys are grabbing it that night to resell!)
I know many of you guys have been out on rides and had to put a plug in your tire, so the experience is there for many. The more I did it, more I trusted my plugs. Mind, I always check them carefully for air loss.
What's the highest speed someone has ridden with a Plug in their tire?
,.
Yea, could be a flame war.
They Kurth, how long you been riding? Do you ride ... or ever ridden dirt bikes? Know your history.
I love modern ABS but early ABS systems were not great. Go try out a K100RS from around 1992 or so. Tell me how that ABS worked out on that bike.
BMW were pioneers on motorcycle ABS and it took them 2 or 3 generations to really get it right. Kind of a rough road but it's good now.
Now? It's fantastic. But all that said ... I'm old school and learned to ride and brake long before ABS came along. Good riding technique trumps ABS every time. Dirt bike riding/racing will also teach good braking technique.
So, I would say that "some" riders may not "need" ABS. But for me it's nice to have and much prefer it to NOT having it ... but it won't save you if your technique is horrific.![]()
Please note my post you've quoted where I mention this.Always replace a plug that's installed from the outside with a proper mushroom plug from the inside first chance you get. If a plug comes out or fails at speed, you've got problems. A mushroom plug (plug/patch combo) ain't gonna come out. Lowers your risk. And don't let the person patching the tire grind into the cords or threads on the inside. Too many tires, motorcycle and car, are compromised this way.

Please note my post you've quoted where I mention this.
Although, in real world touring, you don't always have a chance to stop, remove wheel, then spoon off tire and do a proper inside Mushroom plug.
Some Auto tire shops may refuse to help you but most will. I don't bother with it usually as I've had Zero problems with the many String plugs last 20 years.
Generally you know right away if you've not got the plug
(string) in properly or not. I closely monitor pressure for a day or two ... if not leaking, ride on and eye ball the plug once in a while.
One time the plug leaked and I simply re-did it ... the 2nd time it held air perfectly. Was a BIG hole needing TWO strings.
Another time my tire had SLIME inside. Slime introduces a new problem ... your string plug may not "stick" and can work it's way out or leak due to SLIME.
This can be a real problem in some cases I've seen on buddies flat tires. The good news is that SLIME is water soluble, so you can try to wash off the SLIME best you can ... then re-do your plug ... hope for the best.
In this case (with SLIME in tire) it really should be just TEMP fix until you can get to a shop, remove tire, wash out completely, replug, remount.
In one case with SLIME, tire continued with a slow leak for the next 3 days traveling. By the time we got back to Bay area the tire was mostly worn out ... so owner just changed to new tire.
SLIME also interferes when trying to patch a tube.![]()
Big Plus One on those!I'll add this to the thread......the very best sticky worms I've ever used.

And get some of the new slim plugs as well.

I think you could write the entire thing on Shervin (sp?). The guy that put holes in his licenses plate for less drag.
Edit...here is a link to some gold.

Sigh.....there are so so many. They all pretty much start with:

Has everyone already changed to Winter Air in their tires?
