I'm looking for recommendations for an electric shaver. I normally shave post shower with a quad blade razor, but I like to buy an electric for inbetween use - such as vacations or weekends. I have a fairly light beard.

What works best for you? Cost is no object. Thanks!

I've never found an electric as close as a blade, but I find blades, in general, uncomfortable (perhaps too close). I very rarely use them.

I've been using a classic 3 head Norelco forever (I have not tried the modern, 3 head "stick" style ones), and I'm content with it.

The only reason I replace them is the batteries eventually stop holding a charge. I may have replaced the heads once or twice, can't really say I've noticed much difference.

I'm not particularly picky about it, others may be more demanding of this sort of thing.

I tried the Braun foil type razor a long time ago, but I've stuck with my Norelcos.

Bags of money to throw at it or no, unless they’ve uncovered some space age alien tech pretty sure electric razors are pure shite.

Blades are better than any electric.

That said, I've owned a Norelco (now Phillips) forever for just the reason you mention. Sometimes better when traveling. A touch up in the car, actually kept one in the car door side pocket for years.

Don't really see much difference in the higher priced models. Miss the pop-up trimmer and the alternative they put in the box isn't as convenient.

Buy it from Costco. If anything goes wrong, return it.

I'll look into Norelco. I was hoping for better news about new shaver tech, but it's not to be. I had a foil type many decades ago and got tired of going over the same old ground only to yield a few additional stray hairs cut with each stroke.

Remington shavers used to claim "shaves as close as a blade, or your money back!"

I haven't shaved in decades though, so ignore me :laughing

I rarely shave. Usually just run the trimmer with no guard (so 00 in barber speak) every week.

But I did just buy a Braun 7 series. It’s fine. The gimmick is that the head pivots on two axis to seemingly stay in better contact with your face. I dunno, that part of it I don’t think “enhances” the shave or anything. I had a Braun years ago and seem to remember I went that way with the foil shavers because they have a trimmer bar between the foils so it can chop down several days growth as you go if you’ve let it get long. The rotary (Norelco) head shavers don’t have that, so it’s a separate step to trim it down.

Braun M90. Has a slide out trimmer on the side. Single foil. AA batteries you can get anywhere.
I've been using NiCads and recharging maybe once a month or less.

Got one for 14 bucks at Walmart 20 years ago on vacation ;)
A few years later I looked up new foils and they were three times the price of the shaver.
I just got a new M90.
