Woke up at 5 this morning with that kinda feeling in my chest where it's a little hard to catch your breath, kinda like the initial descent in a roller coaster. Couldn't get back to sleep. I've had it now all day, almost constantly. Very disconcerting. Took my pulse and it's higher than usual. Usually 65-68 bpm, I'm a good 76-78bpm right now.

Anybody ever have this caused by allergies? I've had some sinus issues with allergies this year, headaches, pressure, wondering if this is an allergy/chest issue. Never had anything like this for this long before. Hoping its not a heart issue. I had a valve anomaly on my last EKG that I was supposed to get a chest X-Ray for afterward, but never did it.

tight chest

shallow breathing

and you haven't called your primary care physician because?!?

any numbness in your arm/s, fingers? any light headedness, dizziness?

The rate is a little low to be considered tachycardia. RU dehydrated?

On second thought, don't go to a doctor but discuss it on a motorcycle forum.

Could be anything but all of those symptoms can be caused by a hiatal hernia along with heartburn.
78 bpm doesn't sound very high but heart issues are not something you just sit around on for a while to see if it gets worse. Get yourself wired up and checked out, with any luck you'll get a message from a hot intern.

you did the right thing and started a thread on teh barf before getting medical attention...:laughing

hoping the bestest..

Is the beat steady and rhythmic or not arhythmic? O, and stop drinking coffee. O, and go to a doctor.

Sounds like atrial fibrillation to me...homeboy prob isnt gonna drop dead, but if its been there all day, i would be at the emergency room just in case.

i ain't got a PhD but haz the next closest thing with a gEd, y0 but during allergy season and during attacks, its very common for one's heart beat to rise a little more than usual..the body is working harder to breathe, your body is reacting and working harder than usual to fight the allergens, perhaps disrupted sleeping patterns, usage of pills, etc...

Its important to see a doc soon as you are at risk of developing a clot in your blood due to turbulent flow brought on by the arrhythmia.

:rofl Seriously, I usually bag on people that do this, and here I am doing it.

Just got back from urgent care. BTW, if you ever show up at urgent care and it's packed with a 45 minute wait, say you have chest pains. You go right to the front of the queue.

Anyway, heart rate 10 beats higher than normal, blood pressure elevated by 20 and 10 over my normal, but both still in range. EKG showed an extra heartbeat here and there, as did the chest listen, but not in a repeatable pattern. They're gonna do a thyroid test, but basically told me if I had any blood flow issues to the heart for this long, it would show up on the EKG. So we're just gonna watch it.

This. If it's flutter/arrhytmia it can have very serious consequences. You can go on the rest of your life without serious problems or stroke out tomorrow.

I'm guessing they did a full cardiac work up, but I'm curious about how you felt while you were there. Did you have the same feelings while they were looking?

There's an external device that records every beat and you just push a button on it when you feel anything, and your dr can evaluate what happened and what causes symptoms. Look up Zio Patch, they're pretty cool.

Also, just because they gave you the all clear, don't hesitate to go back if things worsen or don't improve. And still plan on seeing your PCP.

I had a heart problem at the gym once. Every dude I asked about my condition looked at me like I was crazy.

I went to my PCP and a cardiologist soon after.

What a bunch of Pansy's..Aggressively ride a Dirt bike on mountain trails,
when in doubt,Gas it....Wheelie for safety.

If any complications arise, seek counsel from anyone coming out of a Holiday inn, in the morning.

They did an EKG, listened to heart and lungs, listened to heart under stress, did BP/pulse rate, etc. Feeling better today, but still feel it, just less constant. Heart rate is back down to 62 bpm though and I feel fine otherwise. I'm thinking this has to be allergy related rather than heart, but I'm going to go straight back in if it gets worse.

Saw my PCP about this issue, with far worse symptoms, about 18 months ago. The did an EKG and noticed the valve issue. He wants a chest X-Ray, still need to do that. Doc last night said I am getting some additional beats here and there, but it's not constant so she said it's not a concern at this point.

I'm hoping it's just something allergy related that's affecting my breathing and it just goes away.

That's why I went in last night. Have a fun weekend planned and wanted to wake up today. So far so good. Now it's time to go riding.
