Hoping someone here may have some info. I picked up a 09 zx6r for the track and it’s got the suspension done already but I’m sure the rear spring is way too heavy for me. Anyone have any details where I could maybe find info/compatible spring?

Elka no longer makes bike shocks so there’s not much help there.

Pull the spring and see if you can see a rating printed on it. And if you can't, then take the spring to suspension shop and they can measure the spring rate. And they can advise you where to get a replacement that is the proper spring rate for you.

There's likely dimensions or a part number printed on the spring. Quick search suggested it'll be an Eibach spring with a number like 0500.225.625 - 5" long, 2.25" ID, 625 lbs/in rate. If the spring is blue instead of red, it's probably a Hyperco spring with a part number that'll probably come up in Google.

If the spring is way too heavy for you, the damping is likely way off as well. You'll probably want to get a good suspension shop to re-valve it. But for all of this suspension stuff, it's better not to guess. Find the springrate, reach out to a shop that has experience with racing Kawi's, and ask them if the rate is within range.

Call Cogent Dynamics. They serviced my Elka. They may be able to help.

What kind of (rider) Sag numbers can you get out of the shock?

I had an Elka on my Ninja650 and used an Eibach spring on it. Pretty much as Robert described it.

Elka uses 2.25" ID for spring. As long length is correct any spring with 2.25 ID will work. Eibach, Hyperco, Ohlins...
