Engagement Rings......

I have my grandmother's white gold engagement ring. It's got 3 small diamonds on it. I don't want anything beyond that, should the need arise.

When my ex-husband and I got married, we each got simple white gold bands. I think mine cost $59. He lost his within 6 months... :facepalm

Don't spend a bunch of money, to me it's silly.
Also, I would rather have a motorcycle.
Jes' sayin'. :x

I have a buddy that spent $20K+ on a ring. Less than 2 years later they're divorced.

I spent a decent chunk on my wife's ring. Not an insane amount, but substantial for me. My ring: $80 tungsten carbide band I found on some website. :party

I spent a substantial amount on her engagement and wedding ring. She bought me my ring: $85 titanium band I found at a mall jewelry store.

I actually didn't care about how much or little I spent on her ring but I cared more when ALL of her girlfriends at first inform were like... let me see the rings.

They were are all super comparative of each other :rolleyes

Stop it with the cuteness, you two!! :mad

Ugh. I know that feel bro.

I've got two allergies in this world: Guinea Pigs and Metal. :laughing

Titanium was the only choice since I'm already pinned together with a bunch of it. Gold, silver, and other metals give me a rash within minutes - I can't even wear a watch or a belt that might rub against my belly. Cheap date! :D

*Tim Lincecum gave us applause!

Awww you crazy kids. :p

The wife and I have gold bands, over 36 years old and still work great:afm199

The whole diamond thing is pure BS. If they were that rare would Walmart carry them. Good friend of the wife is into diamonds, told me they were a great investment. I said when are you going to sell them? She said she could never sell them they are forever. If you are not going to sell they are not an investment. She will not watch the documentary below.

...People buy rings for wives *later* in life?!?!?!

After we had been married quite a few years, my wife got my grandmothers antique diamond. It was a very nice stone. Then I paid to have it put in a nice setting. The jeweler said that was the kind of quality and cut of stone that he doesn't see very often. I took full credit and told everybody I bought her a new diamond ring. It was true, I did buy the ring, I just didn't buy the stone.

even girls like to compare who has the bigger dick

It's true. My Mom had a very nice ring for it's day. Certainly a nice diamond for the 1940s. Around the time she was in her 60s she wanted a real mega rock, and had a giant ring made for her. It was almost embarrassing large. When my Mom died my wife didn't even want it, she was perfectly happy with the ring I gave her. It's nice we are both on the same wavelength.

advance congratulations !!

In my experience; if you're in a good relationship, you get to create a small world that works for both of you.

ring, $$, moto, whatever floats your boat dude :thumbup

Huh? What? Someone call me? Am I getting engaged? Sorry, I wasn't paying attention...

I hooked my wife with a 90 dollar ring. I asked her if she wanted anything more and she said what I got was perfect because it was from me.

My current girlfriend and I haven't even discussed price, but IMO she is probably the same mentality that whatever I get her when I ask her, will be perfect no matter what it cost:dunno

Wife had joined me for whatever reason back in Massachusetts for a week or so-I had flown out to help me mother trade in her old car and buy something new.

While cleaning out the old car I found a junk ring of extreme hideousness in the car. I threw it at the wife and told her we're engaged.

You'll just end up disappointing her and being a manipulative cheapskate in the long run. May as well start off that way.

Kinda off topic but not really. I don't want to go to a mall jewelry store but know I cant really afford to go to a jewelry store like Cartier, so whats the middle ground for us normal working class heros? I'm not looking to buy something extravagant but I do believe in getting a quality piece. Quality over quantity. Any recommendations for a jewelry store? Im used to buying tools and bike parts not rocks.
