EuroBARF 2011 - It's Better the Second Time!!!

We'll think of you on the Alpe d'Huez. :teeth

Hi to all, Dani really sorry you've had to cancel.
Mattzz i'm planning to stay near Lorrach on thurs night, & meet you fri am. Can you send me you phone no. so i can contact you then? BTW great pics from your sacrificial survey /sneaky practice run.
Kurt, i guess we'll meet up sat.sometime. Are you using the uk mobile from last year?
I'm on +44(0)7831099559

I strongly recommend getting a decent speed trap database for your GPS. Got mine from http://www.scdb.info/, paid 10EUR via paypal for all speed cameras in Europe and it already safed me some €. (Just installed the one with the fixed speed traps b/c the potential mobile enforcement warnings are just too many and they will drive you nuts.)

@Kurt: Especially in Austria, where they have well hidden little boxes that will take your picture from behind.

Crap! I still haven't gotten my GPS sorted. Gotta do that this week.

Mattzz, i'm looking for cheap B&B near Lorrach, best option seems to be F1 Mulhouse Bale Aeroport 68300 Saint Louis, France, about 30mins away, unless you know any better! Colin

Colin, try a smaller town, go to the gas station and ask for a cheap room (pension or fremdenzimmer). In my experience most of the people in smaller villages are either related or they are know each other. And gas stations are the places where all comes together and all information is exchanged :)

Seriously, you should be able to find a room for 40Eur including breakfast in any small village. The F1 should be a least resort/fallback.

Matt, do you know if that's the case in France too? Mark and I have a couple nights without reservations.

And thanks for the speed camera tip :thumbup

I have a reservation in Heidelberg, then again in Briancon, and nothing in between. :laughing I think in France it's auberge, or something like that. Gotta look at my book. :toothless

Haven't tried it in France yet. Better check the French Holiday schedule and start looking for a room early enough each day and I think you should be fine. All I can say is that there were plenty of rooms available two weeks ago in Italy, Germany and Austria.

Matt, Peter, and Colin, where do you want to meet in Racines (looks like a tiny place on the map) and at what time Saturday morning?

I'm hoping to ride some of the Dolomites on Friday, which means I may have to get to the Grossglockner either Thursday afternoon, or first thing Friday AM.

Saw that, but questionable if I can make it :(

Then again, it's not like I'll be hurting for riding :)

:ride :ride ONE WEEK AWAY! :party :ride :ride

Hi Kurt,
Gross Glockner is about 1,5 hours from our hotel, near Nassfeldpass.
I m leaving this hotel on Saturday morning round 10.30. Maybe you could come to this hotel, and than go together to the Jauffenpass, and meet the other round 12.00 o"clock

????

This sounds like a good idea to me. Let's see how Matt and Colin respond.

I will ride Grossglockner on Friday, then head into the Dolomites - at least that's my plan. It will be best to meet you Saturday at Jaufenpass.

Let's meet at the time and place firsttimer suggested.

Saturday, 12:00 @ the hotel:

@Colin: I would suggest that we improvise a bit in terms of roads and accommodation. Having a fixed time and place to meet Kurt and the other guys should be sufficient. What do you think?

@Kurt: From which direction are you coming? Are you intending to ride Jauffenpass before or after meeting at the hotel?

Matt, we have a plan. Since i led last year i'll let you lead me to meet Kurt & Peter. You;ve seen my bike, i can cope with improvisation!!
Thanks for phone contacts, & advise on hotels.
My experience is mainly in France, i just roll up to small hotel & ask for <une chambre pour une nuit silverplate?????> works for me!
Not long now, Colin
