I've been doing the Libmo>Oak commute now for about three weeks without a tag (though the bike is regd to a Fastrak account) and so far zero charges in the express lane.
Rather than start another thread on this subject...
I'm about to purchase a FasTrak Flex so I can use the 580 lanes through Livermore. And to cross bridges and stuff. I have two cars and two motorcycles.
Would it be better to get one for the motorcycles and a different one for the cars, or is one enough for all of them?
On a related subject, the FAQ says to mount the FasTrak Flex device on my windshield. I don't have windshields on my bikes. I'm thinking in the little "glove box" on the top of my KTM tank between the two filler openings and inside the top of the "tank bag" that I'm using as a tail bag on my Honda. Neither are transparent, but there would be only one layer of plastic or fabric covering the thing.
[And please, no more stories of putting it in a jacket pocket and never getting charged. I've already read a bunch of those.]

That's great for now. Plate cameras are coming on those stretches. You can get pulled over according to the site, it's just not a priority for the CHP, is my guess, to pull a moto over without a transponder. Advising people to break laws is not good advice in my opinion. Neither is posting you heard from some guy someone said blah, blah, blah...it's hearsay.I wouldn't get any for the moto. I have one, and it stays in her van 24/7. Never had an issue without the physical tag on me on the 580 corridor or across any of the bridges.
As an aside, I reacall a BARFer, can't remember who, said they called FasTrak to report that the battery in their transmitter had died. The FasTrak employee said not to worry and keep the dead one as long as it doesn't cause any problems.
I just bought three of them (FasTrak Flex) and they were $25.00 each for a total of $75.00. I don't think there was a separate deposit though, so maybe that's what you said.Oh, and also, you can get 3 transponders for free. The fourth one will require a deposit. At least according to their website.

The online information indicated that I could buy them at Walgreens or Safeway, but when I went there, they said they were out and had been for weeks. I try to buy things from local stores, but sometimes you can only do it online. In this case, it's not like the money doesn't end up in exactly the same place.
So I'll stick one in each of the cars and move the third one around between my two bikes. Now I just need to wait the 10 days for them to show up...
