In my experience in wine country, those who like the 2 buck chuck are far better off then those who like the premium expensive wines. They can enjoy it more, they don't feel bad wasting a bottle, and the taste isn't going to change much year to year. If someone makes a million cases of wine, they're going to want to sell a million cases every year, and if they play with the flavors too much, suddenly they can't sell that much and lose business, so they work really hard on making the wine taste the same year to year.
That being said, for me, my average bottle cost is 10-30 bux depending on varietal. I am just as happy with a 9 dollar bottle of Sin Zin, as I am with a 30 dollar bottle of Vino de Casa or something a little fancier. I refuse to spend more then 40 bux on a bottle of wine no matter what it is, because I know where I can find the same thing, for cheaper. It's not about what's on the label, but what's in the bottle.
