Taiwan is not China when it comes to the manufacture of motorcycles. Taiwan is actually pretty well respected for their automotive products.
 
Good to know, a world came to an end for me (I am a German) when I read about that.

I would rather stop riding than owning a bmw (Triumph, etc ..) made in china, prc or whatever they call themselves in the moment.



( I've witnessed how most manufacturers take care of it's dealers and customers and BMW by far surpass Honda.....:banana If there's a recall, BMW have the dealers take care of it BEFORE a customer purchases the motorcycle....Honda and the others wait for the customer purchase the motorcycle and THEN send out a recall notice...:thumbdown...Ducati basically denies there's a problem...)

BMW isn't perferct but is more upfront of issues they have with their products unlike other manufacturers and that alone makes me like the BMW brand...
 
This bike looks awesome, and im very excited to see it in person.

The hate comments are obviously just directed at the fact that its a BMW. Some people cant help it, nothing wrong with that.

I read an article in MCN discussing the future of BMW sport bikes. The point they made is that the production of a UJM was designed to eat into the Japanese sport bike market without sacrificing their adventure, hyperbike, touring bike, and urban-bike market.

The 1000RR dips their toes into that market -- think of it as a test. They have no immediate plans to produce a 600 cc UJM, but will definitely consider it if the 1000RR proves to be a success.

Pro's for buying a BMW:
1. Less negative attention from cops
2. Insurance will almost certainly be better in the same way that insurance for a Corvette is cheaper than for a Mustang
3. Better resale value and more serious buyers
4. Better dealership service....at least it can't get worse than the service around here
5. Badge-whore whores

Given comparable performance and price, I'd MUCH rather buy a BMW liter bike over any Jap bike.
 
There was a rumor at some BMW forums that BMW is considering a triple 675cc sportsbike (wouldn't be a surprise)... something they've done in the past with the K100 (4-cylinder) and K75 (the 3-cylinder counterpart).

If there's any, I think BMW will be watching closely how the S1000 RR is received worldwide, before deciding if they want to go toward that direction.
