What the hell did I do? Nothing that people don't do all day long, every day. I didn't flip him off. Now, I am responsible for a crazy person I don't know? Give it a rest, already.

"We" are not responsible for other people's mental issues.

Correct.

"We", as in the individual motorcyclist or motorcycling community, just ends up taking it in the chops when an aggro cager, pissed at the last a$$hole rider, takes it out on the next rider. :wave

Which is why I make special efforts to be nice & wave at folks when I split. I don't rev my engine, pop wheelies, weave thru traffic, etc. I roll on thru, hopefully defusing the anger. I want to get home in one non-bloody piece, with no detours to the hospital or morgue. YMMV, mang. :thumbup

You certainly ARE responsible if your behavior aggravates those mental issues. ESPECIALLY if you do so on purpose.

Nope. I'm not responsible for someone else's shitty day/outlook/life/job/wife/kid/tax return/PG&E bill. If I'm minding my own business, splitting, doing wheelies, whatever, and I don't slow someone down, make them have to do something to avoid hitting me or someone else, don't impede them, in fact, if I do nothing other than piss them off by being there, that is their problem, not mine. If they get pissed off at my not having to wait for traffic, and they take it out on someone else, how is that my fault?

I'll be responsible for my actions, not someone else's emotional issues.

I find that most of the times that I want to flip someone off is because they did something unpredictable, dangerous, or hazardous to my well being. Or sometimes a combination of all three.

That's not when I want to take a hand off of the critical controls.

You're not responsible for what they do if you're minding your own business. If you deliberately do something to piss them off, that's another matter.

Imagine that you're lanesplitting in a standstill and I'm splitting a few bike lengths in front of you. A car to my left is closer to the center line than I want and I smack his window and rev my engine, while flipping him off. Then I proceed.

The driver looks in the mirror, sees you coming and crowds the line even more. How would you be feeling about my actions at that point?

You're harshing my mellow. :x

I've used my horn instead, and occasionally wagged my finger in a 'naughty, naughty', but I don't flip folks off. No point in having a cager go from negligent to intentional homicide because I'm angry.

Let it go, leave them in your past. :teeth

Yep, I'd highly recommend the softer approach. Flipping someone off, even if well deserved, can still lead to some nasty road rage. Bike vrs. car has too many disadvantages. :teeth

I try not to do that. If they are crowding the line, like yesterday, I'm not going to hit the window or do the HAMMER OF THOR on mirror, even though he came over the line after me. Because in this town, many, many people carry guns. And I don't. I did give him the "give me head" sign though.

Uncharacteristic of me, I gave the finger to two drivers, today.
.... ...am I just being a dick?

My advice, do all the flipping you want, but keep the "flipped" in front of you, not in your rear view mirror.

Don't ask me why I say that.
