I know niether one of these jackets are not top of the line like Dainese, Alpinestar etc...
but I am just wondering if you compare the two, which one is better.
Frank Thomas or Teknic jacket.

Thanks

I would think a little more info would be necessary for an intelligent answer. That and maybe another forumite, lol.

I would suggest you go with whatever fits you the best. Without looking at the exact jackets, I'd have a hard time offering a suggestion.

In practice, I think whatever jacket you get will be fine for the street. The important thing is that you wear it. I've crashed in all kinds of gear, including a north-face sweater (worn over my leathers.) I've never had an issue with a jacket failing to offer basic protection.

comparing the two which is better

Frank Thomas Titanium Pro leather
vs.
Teknic Chicane leather
I have tried the Teknic and it fits good and sung on me. On the side note, I already have a Alpinestar jacket, I just want to get another one as an alternate.
Thanks

id go with the teknic only because ive been using their products for many many years now. I have never been fond of the frank thomas gear cause it looks and feels really cheap. the gloves always come back to cycle gear and there's always pairs of them in my local cycle gear missing parts that there trying to sell on clearence:thumbdown

I ve had the same pair of teknic violater gloves for almost 6 years and there still going strong after a really bad crash and several small getoffs. my teknic jacket was the same and took one hell of a beating, id still be wearing it if it hadnt been cut off me:thumbup

I'd go Teknic. I've been very pleased with the quality of my Violator jacket. It has Knox armor (the site says the Chicane is 'upgradable' to Knox, so you might see if where you're getting it from can swap it out as lagniappe). Like spddrcr, I've been whelmed by the Frank Thomas gear I've seen in the stores.

I have had Tecknic product(s) before and I like their product. Although I have known riders with FT and also enjoy that product.

Thanks, I have too asked from other riders and all of them recommend Teknic jacket than Frank Thomas.
So, without further ado, I will be getting the Teknic.

By the way, I have been wondering the Frank Thomas products, is it name after the founder? just curious.....
Thanks

I've worn both, my second jacket is the Frank Thomas Titainium, that being said I'd still go with the Teknic stuff, quality is much better. The stitching the FT's leaves a lot to be desired.

Glad you made a choice, make sure you take fit into account as well.

I have a UK built Frank Thomas textile jacket that crashed great!
Look at where stuff is made. some of the Chinese and Malaysian Frank Thomas gear has major zipper and stitching problems.
Also look for sales sometimes you can get high quality, USA UK Italian made jackets on sale withing $ of the inferior stuff.

I have bought and will continue to buy Teknic gear. The gear is built well and the prices on closeouts are extremely low. I have the Speedstar gloves and they exceeded my expectations. I have also bought the Speedstar boots, i had to sell them due to a sizing issue (Teknic runs large IMO) but the quality of the boots seemed solid.

I would go for the Teknic, but I have never owned Frank Thomas gear.

I've got the same FT jacket and pants. I wasn't super impressed with the stitching, but I had a recent get-off which both that jacket and pants fared very well.

I'd go with whichever fits you better.

Never owned a teknic but I did crash at 60mph on my bike with a FT jacket on. I was fully protected and still wear the jacket to this day.

The seems came out in some spots but I had them repaired and the jacket minus the scuffs is fine.
