The mini can go select and is an effective wep at half the price of most western assault rifles. Also, they don't look as threatening (public perceptions are important), but will still get the job done.
 
I don't know. Ruger sells a militarized version of the Mini-14, with select fire. And that looks like a Mini-14.
 
Someone call Ruger, this confusion will not stand!!!
 
I recall seeing a lot of M16/M4s when I was in Paris in 2005. A lot of soldiers/police standing around near landmarks. Riots were going on.

Nexter isn't very good and FN is Belgian, not French. I don't think they actually make any decent small arms in France.
