Would anyone here be interested in coming to the central valley for a "dirty" supermoto ride?

I will post route - but I have more questions before I finalize the route. I plan to limit the ride to 12 riders total, the route will include:
  • twisty paved roads the best (IMHO) that the central valley has to offer
  • unpaved (dirt/forrest service) roads
  • an SVRA for those that want to challenge themselves offroad

Required: CA Street Legal Bike

I have (or will) pre-run the entire route on MT60's (most in the rain) ahead of time. I did quite a bit of the run last saturday and conditions are darn near ideal now! It was raining for the last 2 hours of the ride but it was warm and PERFECT with little or no dust.

I would say Dualsports with knobbies would call it an "easy" ride offroad, but there are challenges for those that choose to tackle them while the rest watch an laugh.

Depending on how many responses I get I will post here again with more info.

Just some teasers:

I don't know, the last Cal Central ride I was on ended early with a fair amount of broken bikes and bruised bodies. Still, sounds like fun. April would be better for me (like anybody cares).

Define "CA Street Legal"

Well... prior rides... Lemme know what happened in a PM and I will see if I can help you better make an informed decision.

Got a plate - actually I shoulda just put "street legal." One guy going has alaska plates, not sure why I said CA plated. I am not going to ensure all your turn signals work or do some sort of OCD pre-ride inspection. Just do what you can to ensure that the bike is mechanically sound. If you get pulled over for missing/required safety items that is between you and the LEO.

What are some of the roads you are looking at?
222
245
Maxon
Trimmer Spring
Dunlap
600
400
406
....more shall I go on?

I plan on multi staging it for "bail outs" so interested parties can ride for what ever amount of time they want to ride. The best riding is the last half though.

I am even willing to trailer some of yall northern cali folks back to the start since it doesn't loop back to the start point. If anyone is interested in that lemme know as plans firm up.

Any plans to hit some of the OHV/forest service roads between trimmer and shaver lake?
Not currently - the only OHV I plan to hit is Millwood which is south east of pine flat.
168 to trimmer will include maxon which is a fun lowspeed paved road with some cool elevation changes that I want to incude that spits out low enough on trimmer to enjoy most of the best part of trmmer springs road.

I hope to get on google maps soon and plot this all out soon. I have a few hours wed/thurs this week to do this. Check back friday?

Darn bad news ... Millwood gates locked "till spring"

The rangers are nice - I will keep calling and pestering her. Keep yer fingers crossed - but if this part gets cut so be it, route wise there is another way around that is a fairly short detour.

April.... Well ... Maybe it will have to push back. 245 is sandy at the top too. Gah! I will keep yall posted.

Like I said I'm in if "we" can fix my bike :) lol

Ok time to pick a date methinks.

I typed this up and lost it once on my phone - so bear with me this is the brief version:

Going to pick three dates. Why? The first date where the weather chooses to cooperate I will pounce. I will put the date on the calendar at our local ride boards and link to it from here as soon as the forcaster says five days out that the chances are good for ideal weather. The potential dates are:

March 6th
March 20th
April 10th

I know, I know I promised the route tonight but no time yet. The Mrs has a huge headache. If she hits the sack early maybe I can sneak it in tonight still.

Here is an update:

http://www.centralvalleyriders.com/forums/showpost.php?p=136902&postcount=7

The route is going to be flexable. I want to use the first half to feel the group out.

I am a dirt bike rider at heart - so I dunno what yall think about getting muddy.

Weather was ideal today... Coulda have done this tomorrow... cept its valentines day and I don't want to sleep in the garage for the next month.

Cool route, thanks for all of the prep. Ugly reality is setting in. 7 hours of commute time is a little too much for me even though the ride promises to be worth it. Have fun shredding.

Weather looks to be perfect so its on!

Lemme know if yer a coming so I will keep my eyes pealed for ya.

this ride sounds fan-fucking-tastic. im trying to come man...it all depends on the funds that i get this week...if ive got some money to blow. but im planning on it if i can.
