I recently changed from the stock SV front end to a '99 GSX-R750 front end, complete with the 6-pot Tokico calipers. Man, what a difference! But something weird has happened to me a couple of times since I got them. I'll squeeze the brake lever hard for a quick stop, and the front brake will do this rapid-fire CLICK CLICK CLICK CLICK, almost like I've got ABS on it. As far as I know, the front wheel isn't locking up. The first time it happened, I was going really slow and the brakes hadn't warmed up yet, so I was squeezing hard, and the rear locked up, so I thought maybe the engine was pissed off that I tried to slow it down the way I did? But the 2nd time it happened, the rear didn't lock up. I was going down a short, steep hill with a stop sign at the bottom of it (end of Swanton Rd going South) and squeezed the lever harder than usual because I didn't want to ass pack the riders at the stop sign. The clicking only lasted a second or so, but I don't recall if I let off the brake or not. Anyone know what's going on?

I guess so? I dunno if you can tell from this picture or not...

Check the bolts that hold the rotor onto the hub (wrong name, but you know what i mean) they're similar to bicycle chainring bolts, and can float a bit causing that kind of noise if they're loose or not seated.

Sweet front end by the way. That thing looked very solid in person. Mine is mush in comparison.

I'm pretty sure those bolts are tight, but I'll check them before my ride tomorrow just to be sure.

I don't see what changing the front end would have to do with the rear brake locking up. Are you sure the clicking is coming from the front? (If your front brake locked up you would definately know it... You'd be sliding down the pavement almost instantly).

Yes, I am sure it's the front making the noise. I hardly ever used my brakes before I got my new front end. The engine braking is strong on my bike, and I used to just slow down pretty gradually, but I seek to be skilled with the brakes, so now I use them all the time. I thought maybe I just slowed down too much without pulling in the clutch when it happened the first time, since the rear broke loose. But if that was the case, why didn't the rear break loose the 2nd time?

Are you getting feedback through your brake lever?

Also, when was the last time the steering bearings were checked?

you must lubricate these bolts/pins they will stop clicking

I have the same brakes it allways makes clicks.

I didn't get any feedback through the lever. The bearings are new and were installed recently. It sounds like it's coming from the front brake, but I don't feel anything through the lever, and there's no loss of braking power. Would the engine make a clicking noise if I braked hard enough without pulling in the clutch?

my r6 does the click thing its done it since i got it tho but i bought it used. The first week i had my bike a garbage truck pulled out in front of me when i was goin 50 mph and squeezed the lever and instead of slowing all i got was that stupid clicking. Now i don't really get it anymore cause it only happens when i squeeze the lever too fast kinda like slamming on the brake pedal in a car. If i apply the brakes with the right pressure i don't have a problem. It might be totally diff problem tho for all i know.
