Fuck, didn't they learn from Google Glass?

This is jist the beginning for f-book. I work in Med Device on the manufacture side. A now-former coworker recently started working for f-book whose specialty is bioengineering concerp to prototype design I think thats the right buzzword.

Anyway, very very smart person. Higjly educated in this shit and he told me the 10000 foot view version of what is goig on. Implantable (long term) gizmos that sense shit from your body to interact with mini computers on your person. Its barely hyperbole to state that f-book is launching a cyborg division

As fsr as rhese sunglasses go... meh. These have been available in clunky ugly versions for years in the back of MAD magazine have they not? The innovationnis that these might have decent video. Maybe theyll partner with a helment manifacturer to integrate so qe dont have to have hugeass gopros off the side

That would be fucking awesome, if they can actually can pull it off. This area has a long history of over promises and under delivery. I am thinking of you Intel. :laughing

it'll happen. it already happens with med devices that communicate with the doctor over blue tooth, the breakthroughs will be making the gizmos smaller and the integration better. will facebook be the ones that commercialize it? i dunno. it's coming though, i'll guess less than 10 years, so probably 5ish. the technology is pretty amazing but it's scary to think of the privacy implications. alexa and your cell phone are already ratting out everything you do now, soon they'll literally know more about you than you do by inference from data crunching. they already do but Even More So and more directly.

Related: The Oculus uses cameras to "see through" the unit, ie projects everything in your room around you onto the screen so you can move around without tripping over stuff.

I would be very surprised if Facebook WASN'T using that to try and scan everything in your house to see what products you buy, layout / size, etc for every last nugget of data they can wrangle.

I'm getting a bigger mask.

yal? Should read the NYT article that I read two days ago, i.e. the original, by the reviewer. One VERY good point of his glasses is that : he's able to take a picture of the GGBridge.. WHILE holding coffee and a Dog-Leash. :wow
And BTW some of his other tree and dog pics were even nicer in quality and composition.

IOW: this may actually help some uber-prolific pic-takers.

That said I don't care and, no, I'm not going to buy them, nor do I want to advertise them.. .. but you guys's sex comments made for an entertaining thread.. ... :laughing

now this.. HOLY WOW :shocker :wtf :thumbdown all of its 1000 feet

well maybe my bio-engineering ex may benefit from that, too.

Facebook ain’t got nothing on Apple. Just wait as Apple is the only big boy with a medical device already approved for insurance in some countries. They have HUGE plans for medical.

Looking forward to cybernetic enhancements, I have been following this tech for a very long time. I am most interested in Cybernetic Eyeball replacements. Specifically Electronic Magnification, FLIR, and starlight enhancement.

Video recording and target acquisition software would also be nice, but I would consider that gravy.

The hardware isn't a big problem right now from an optic or miniaturization perspective, right now the biggest problem is heat. You can create the eye, but the heat it puts off when resting in your eye socket will cause brain damage, so we need to make more energy efficient devices that run cooler and better master the DNI tech Auntie is talking about.

I still keep wondering if we will ever get there with the cybernetic enhancements or if genetically designed lab grown organ enhancements will be here first.

Obviously if you can get most of the vision enhancements mentioned from cloned cats eyes or whatever that you can grow in a vat to match the recipients DNA and not be rejected by the body after a transplant, that is a much more practical enhancement, but we are not quite as close with the research yet.

Also not that far off though.

I used to love doing candid photography of my friends and family, and was constantly aware of how bringing my camera up to my face to take a shot would change their expression or reaction if I wasn't quick enough. At the time I really wished that I had a camera in my eye so I could capture them looking casual and lovely, and how I eye saw them.

I never realized how problematic a device like that could become until google glass got unleashed on the public.

Yeah, I'm not super interested in the Photos. I like the video idea for the purposes of capturing crime, motor vehicle accidents, etc. in real time, but don't care that much, it comes up so rarely.

I mainly want vision advantages over other living organisms for evolutionary reasons.
