Fucking Deer...

Glad you are mending. After a trauma to my hip there was a big sac of fluid there. The swelling stayed unchanged for days. The ortho surgeon shrugged his shoulders. The physical therapist suggested ice. Good thing, the swelling decreased quite dramatically with just a one hour session of ice packs.

I think so. I’m gonna try and get it from the tow yard today. (I have help) I actually have comprehensive coverage on it. I will be talking to the insurance adjuster today. It’s Progressive. I hope I don’t have to get nasty in order for them to pay out. We will see. Now for your morning color....

Ugh, glad you're mostly okay. x 1,000 on the ice recommendation. :afm199

Yeesh. Bastards, I figure this or an unseen patch of gravel in a corner are the two likeliest scenarios for a crash for me.

found the gravel myself around a corner up by Berryessa, luckily didn't bang up the bike too bad, and just broke my wrist and separated my shoulder, bit of rash from where my rev'it gloves failed :thumbdown

wildlife collision is a nightmare scenario for sure, especially when I ride with my dad on the backroads in Missouri, the deer are as thick as rabbits out there.

Damn!! Glad you are on the mend and a great reminder to gear up before getting on the moto. I live in Larkin Valley. The deer population has been steadily increasing over the last few years. They use to be only at the upper end by Mar Monte. Now they are everywhere.

Should ask some of the larger land owners / ranches if I can bowhunt them on their property. Ya know, for the safety and wellbeing of us riders.:laughing

Please thin the heard. I did my part.yeah that’s deer hair in my leathers

Yikes, Glad you are not more hurt!

I was hesitant to open this thread when I first saw it. Glad it's generally a happy ending. RIP bike, knee, deer. In that order.

Damn Mike! Glad you're mostly OK.

Fuck deer. Shoot em all.

...let other deer sort them out.

I think I have a 748/996 tank that's yellow in good shape. If you need it let me know...BARF donation or something, whatever gets you happy and on the road.

I have bags, rack and a perfect set of pipes off my ST4s. Oh and a nice seat too. Yours if you want them.

Thanks guys. That’s really generous and much appreciated. Sadly she was picked up by the insurance company and headed off to the bone yard for auction or part out. There are still some tasty salvageable bits that should get someone stoked. I’m not in a position to do a buy back and rebuild though.

I’m bummed. I had just really bonded with the bike on the ride down to Palm Springs. Sigh. Onward we go. Not sure what’s next for a moto. The 996 motor with Termi’s will always make me melt.

Let me know if I can help with anything at the auctions. Prices are high now, but not on all models.

1 south. Real close to Larkin Valley Exit. 5 goddamn minutes from home. :laughing

I Rode to Palm Springs on Saturday and was coming back Sunday. It was about midnight. It was a bold decision to try and pull off that ride. I can't believe I got nuked so close to home.

Shout out to the CHP who gave me a ride home and the motorist who stopped and called it in. Im at work. When I get home i'll see if I can find the CHP's name. Good guy. Loved bikes and rode too. He was eager to try out for the moto unit.

I think I have the help I need to fetch the bike carcas from the tow yard later today but, thank you Tim. I'll keep you posted.

Buy quality gear and wear it. Don't forget to pay the subscriptions! :teeth I'll post up some more pics later.

Dang that is close to my home too. That was the site of a moto/deer fatality a few years ago--on a straight, four-lane highway no less! Bambi is my greatest fear. Training, skills, and gear can prevent a lot of bad stuff. But there isn't much in the tool kit to prevent an altercation with deer....

How about instead of introducing wolves they just allow shooting more deer.

Good luck with that in this state. Thinning the heard would be a good thing but not an easy to do in the SC mountains. All private land that you cant hunt without permission.

Wolves are much more smarter than deer I bet

Hopefully the mountain lion population continues to increase and starts thinning the bastards out. Myself and others have been spotting lions more frequently, and spread pretty far apart(less likely to be the same cat spotted), so I suspect there's more in the hills as of late.
