Fully lined kevlar jeans or liners?

...I just blew at least an hour looking at the Motoport site.

...and found the horror story threads of ill fitting "custom" clothes and trying to work with a sole proprietor who acts personally offended if the fit is wrong. He also does not offer refunds despite a "100% satisfaction guarantee," which strikes me as something that should be illegal.

Guess I'll skip on that.

Thanks for the reminder. I used Competition Accessories. They were awesome in that regard. Those pants run HUGE. Not knowing that I, ordered my normal jean size and ended up swimming in them.
One quick phone call, no restocking fee, easy 3 day exchange.

Just so I'm not confused, you ordered moto port pants through a reseller? Seems like a good option, just in case sizing is wrong. I do like the idea of those stretch Kevlar jeans.

+1. Been using the Slider Jeans from Competition Accessories for 3 years now. They do run LARGE. So read up on the reviews on the site or just call them for sizing help. Fit is on the relaxed side. They do have pockets for armor in the knees. But like with all riding jeans, the armor doesn't always stay in place. Especially if you happen to be in a fall. The only alternative I found was the RS Taichi Knee armor 50$. http://stores.sportbiketrackgear.com/Detail.bok?no=13049

You put these on like socks, but over your knees and insert the armor. They will never move. They are comfortable and the fastening straps are around the shin and not behind the knee. So its comfy. There is a version with soft armor as well. Alternatively you can buy the D3O knee armor and use it with the RS Taichi Knee Armor system, if you prefer something softer.

The whole setup with jeans cost me 120$. Good luck.

You're not confused, perhaps I was.
I was referring to ordering Sliders through Comp/Acc.

I have a pair of Sliders with knee and hip inserts. They fall in the *better than nothing* category for me. Good protection from rash from a mild get-off. I do like them, but I don't kid myself. They have limits that I am very aware of. I have varying degrees of attgatt for varying degrees of riding.

I went with the same, primarily because they are baggy enough to wear protection underneath and the legs are extra long so when you are on the bike, the cuff does not ride up your boots.

I wear Forcefield shorts w/thigh, hip, buttock & coccyx pads and a pair of Asterisk cell knee protection under the jeans.

If I go down and the jeans get shredded, no big deal as long as my skin & bones are saved.

Exactly. Same here.

So I got tired of worrying about fabrics and sizing and blah blah blah...I just went to Johnson leather and had Alan size me up for 2 piece leathers with a few custom touches.

Gear problems: solved.

I had Motoport custom make me some Kevlar mesh gear 5 years ( 80,000 miles) ago and I love them. Have not crash tested them but the quality of both the Kevlar and the Du Pont energy absorbing armor is confidence inspiring.

I am hard to fit so needed a custom suit. After carefully following the measuring instructions and sending them to Motoport I got a call from the owner asking if I was sure I did it right as the combination of measurements were unusual. We talked for quite a while about the pros and cons of different configurations and reviewed my measuring technique. After I re confirmed the measurements he made the suit. With 90 degree days common here in the summer I really like the mesh and add various layers underneath when the temperature drops. They also wash easily and well.

I can easily imagine that if they custom made a suit to your measurements and you subsequently decide those weren't the right measurements he could be less than totally obliging. On the other hand he makes an outstanding product and is willing to spend as much time with you as you need to ensure you get it right (the first time).
