:rofl me and my buddy were sitting here going "what ever happened to that guy, he's a hero" so we googled him...he lost his job, couldn't find another one, social life went to shit, so he joined the Army as a Cav Scout :flag. Fuck everyone else, he's a hero in my book :thumbup :thumbup :thumbup

I've got a friend whos studying and getting into movie production. The first thing I told him is, if you want to make a shit ton of money. Learn everything you can, and do the exact fucking opposite. Then folks like me, who can predict and read through plots from a mile away. Will go back to watching movies.
 
If you want to make a ton of money in movie, be the marketing guy. That's all that matters. The movie being good or not has little to do with how well it does

Marketing is usually important for the first few days showing a movie. After that, the quality of the movie becomes more important, since word-of-mouth drives sales.
 
The opening weekend is all that matters. A big opening weekend is better than word of mouth most the time. Then get that thing out of theaters, and into home release.

A good marketing mix will create an impression (and predisposition) about the movie. From that point, most people have decided to (or not to) go see the movie regardless of the word of mouth. This is very similar to the well known fact that a chick decides in the first 5 seconds if she will have sex with you. It is very hard to change that position afterwards

This will be my one and only post like this in this thread.

Semantics of who deserves to get punched or not aside (regardless of gender) you posted something others didn't think was funny. Those that didn't think it was funny outnumbered you. Shit happens. Get over it. You seem to be taking it personally that people didn't laugh at the same thing you did. Guess what, there's plenty of differences in humor between me and everyone else, but if someone doesn't laugh at one joke I tell I don't get all butt hurt and keep bringing it up. It's the BoB Funniest Pic Thread. It's not the end of the world if people don't laugh.

Secondly, making ANY comparison between Snooki and 9/11 is flat out fucked up. You're butt hurt because you made a joke about a terrorist attack that killed thousands and people didn't appreciate it. I made a comment about a person who punched someone joining the Army and you took it to mean I supported him punching Snooki. As much as I think she deserved it, I don't necessarily condone hitting people of any gender just because they're getting in your face. I have respect for someone who, even if they thought it was their last resort, swore an oath to serve their country and stepped up to the line to make sacrifices that less than 2% of the nation make or have made. Signing up during wartime, knowing you'll likely get deployed, takes a little something not everyone has. Especially when you sign up as a Cav Scout, as opposed to say, an admin clerk.

That being said, Snooki DID deserve to get hit. I've never understood why chicks will take things far beyond provoking someone verbally and then act surprised when they get the response they were asking for. Gender has nothing to do with it. If you poke someone with a stick long enough and hard enough they're gonna get tired of it sooner or later.
 
i found the 9-11 joke funny, not because it was making fun of people losing their lives. actually that had little to do with the joke. the joke was making fun of those posts you find on facebook that say "you know youre a 90s kids of you remember this" followed by some shitty picture of the teenage mutant ninja turtles or the fresh prince of bel air, but the truth is, you really do have to be a 90's kid to remember the twin towers because they were only here for like a year and a half in the 2000's. which is ironic because the slogan for the 9-11 attacks is "never forget". maybe i looked to far into it, but no one is laughing at people losing their lives, more at the stupidity of some facebook posts and the reality that those 2 buildings are gone.
