FYI: Contour 1080p camera on Amazon for $89 GOLD DEAL: 2 hours left as of 7am

I was just about to type an angry message to everyone who grabbed these up already when the wait list actually came through! Boo-yaa. Soon I will be filming my un-eventful 15 minute commutes in HD!:)

Question: How many hours of video would that 32 GB card give you?

Shit! I dunno if I should get this or save for hd2 hero

As a helmet cam, it comes with the only mount you'll ever need. If you want more options on mountability, buy the waterproof case so you can use a variety of threaded mounts. Or buy the GoPro.

Amazon has a 32gb one coming up on their smokin deal section today:cool:teeth

i think that's a regular sd card. contour uses microsd :(

does the camera take 32gb? the site says 16, which is ~3hrs for 1080p vid?

is there a way to mount the camera on top&center of the helmet with the mount it comes with?

FYI, the Contour takes up to 16GB MicroSD .

I've read reviews that some 32GB cards may be incompatible with the Contour. I purchased a 16GB off Amazon for $18 and a 32GB for my Hero2.

Not sure if ContourHD provides curved adhesive mounts like GoPro does, but it's been my experience that nothing beats a flat surface to adhere a flat mount on. This will vary by helmets of course, but my HJC helmets do not use a side plate over the visor, so the flat sides of the visor is where I've mounted my helmet cam on all these years.

Besides, the higher up you mount the camera, the more it lessens the sensation of speed (assuming you're going fast enough to begin with :twofinger).

Also, a 16 gig microSD has been more than enough for me. I'd hate to have to go through hours and hours of footage for 5-10 min of desired, edited video.

picked one up also off the wait list.....

which is good for rugbynerd since i'm the one that told him about this thread in the first place.... i would have hated to have to swipe his from him :2finger

what "side plate" are you talking about? i suppose my concern with the side mount is that the video will look uneven, since the camera isn't centered to the bike. is the location of the camera obvious in videos?

These are wide-angle cameras. The POV being off an inch or two from the central point will be a non-issue. Here, have a look:

The only thing you should be concerned of is the horizontal alignment of the lens, which is where the camera's dual-laser alignment plays an excellent part in the absence of a viewfinder. Being able to rotate the lens itself is genius too.

The only other caveat at this point is to make sure you set your helmet cam to your eyes' line of sight during use, not the helmet's. Doing the latter is how people find their cameras recording the top of their bike, instead of the road ahead.

The thing I found out is make sure you set the angle of the camera with your helmet on and you on the bike. especially in a tucked position you can see what I mean here

Good to know, since I missed the deal...however, I would've preferred buying through Amazon, not just because it's cheaper, but because I could use my AmEx points to pay for the purchase itself. That and I have a Prime membership so I'd get it on Monday :|

Which Contour model do most people prefer?

now i see what angle i should put it at :thumbup

and to eliminate the visor being in the video, i suppose putting the camera a bit more towards the front will help?

Nice vid Dennis but it seems like the Contour is a bit shakier than the Hero2. Thoughts on that?
