I was never really good in math.

I've elected to go with a new organization after resigning this past February 28 from a 10 year relationship with my last employer.

I got to travel for about 2-3 weeks during that time to Carson City, NV, Medford, OR, Santa Clara, Chico, Ukiah, Riverside, CA to check out the invitations before I settled down.

So this new commute for this new work is killing me on gas in my little 2003 Toyota Matrix with 200,202 miles.

Here's my gas bill. Can you guys tell me what the total is?

4/3 $41.47
4/6 $42.81
4/10 $27.69
4/14 $38.66
4/19 $29.69
4/22 $29.17
4/25 $25.99
4/29 $28.47

TOTAL gas expense is = call me "DucDan"

At a guesstimate of $3/gallon and 26mpg, from 4/4-4/6 you did ~371 miles. Whare u goin' for 123.6 miles/day?!

Not to mention some of those places get hot as hell during the summer!.

But yeah, the total cost/mile on that Duc vs that old Matrix are substantially higher.

When I was in college one of my big justifications for buying a bike (SV650 then an R6) was saving money on travel cost. Whatever benefit from gas that you get is negated in tires and oil changes (let alone the cost of the bike and insurance on top of your car, if you have one).
