Get Fit, Stay Fit, Feel Good - 2026

Also posted in the PW thread, but my appetite is back and I added 20lbs to my barbel this week. That makes a total of 20lbs :rofl My weight is around the same as a couple of months ago but I have less fat and more muscle (at least to me). Let's see how things look in another 60 days...

I also had time away. It will be a week today.

Some food issues and a moto ride too. (Which also had some food crap on Saturday that kept me off the bike :rant)

I had hoped to get there yesterday, but man I was so tired I said f'ug it for one more day.

Feeling 90% better. Still being super careful with the food stuff.
On my way now!! :later

gotta be especially careful about the stomach gurgles on leg day don't want to have any mishaps mid-squat. :poop:

Tonight is leg/lower body day kind of excited/apprehensive as its been a bit since my last lower day and not sure how much I will be off my form.

My coach gave me a week and a half to de-load. I only rode 120 miles and lifted 3x in that time.

But things are already kicking back up. Yesterday was a double day - my medium lifting session and a 2hr ride. I was supposed to ride chill. But I got a good run at a 26mi MTB segment and put in the 5th fastest time. Fun almost always overrides chill 😅. And tmrw is a 5-6hr ride. I just found that both my saddles are cracked so I’m not looking forward to it. The gravel bike one cracked on the bike tour and who knows when the MTB saddle cracked 🫤. I have yet to decide which direction I’m riding. Then Thurs is another double day of lifting and 2-3hrs riding 😰.

Man leg day was back to being brutal last night. Those 3 second neg sets are bad. I get off the machine and it takes me a second to remember how to walk again. :laughing I did feel kind of weird once I got home but was also feeling hungry so broke out some baby carrots and had a m unch felt better after that but was kind of weird.

one thing I noticed was during my 2 week hiatus my weight seemed to be going down on the scale and i got pretty low but since I started working again scale is showing about a .5lb increase each day. Everyone is saying how much slimmer I look but just really wish the scale would show it also but I am fine with it as is but damn. Also found out I dropped at least 2 inches in my waist which was a nice surprise.

Just switched to PPO and I’m looking for a sports focused doctor and PT, anyone have any recommendations in the east bay? Thanks

I haven’t checked in for a while. Work got crazy but I’m still lifting weights every morning at 5 am. My riding has been cut way back to twice a week because in addition to work the kiddo has gone back to school and dance has started back up too…since I work from home I am the kid transporter. I guess I could break out the indoor trainer and do some Zwift rides/training for lunch. The rain will be here soon enough and I will be back on the indoor trainer anyway.

Last Sunday I went down to Folsom and rode the American River Bike Trail from the Sac State Aquatic Center down to Discovery Park and back. It was 46 flat miles but it was a good zone 2 ride. I think tomorrow I’m going to go down and ride 30 miles of the trail again and then add on the hilly loop around Lake Natoma, which I believe is an extra 11 miles.

I’ve been contemplating riding the Nevada City Heart of Gold gravel bike race again. It’s October 17th. Last year I did the short 28 mile ride with over 4k of climbing and I think that would be what I would do again. The 67 mile ride has over 7k of climbing and I’m certainly not ready for that.

Really good upper body workout this AM.
Still feeling the muscle fatigue.

Another fuck yeah moment bench pressing.
Reminds me of being a young man. Sort of. :laughing

2 hr 20m round trip Mission peak, down 35 minutes from the first time I did it. I could maybe have gone faster on the way down but Im scared of aggravating my knee

Went back down to Folsom yesterday and rode the 11 mile loop around Lake Natoma and then did 20 miles of the American River Trail. I felt pretty good and wanted to ride more but had to get back home to take the kiddo to the Draft Horse Classic in Grass Valley. Kids English teacher was showing her horse in the woman’s single carriage event. The ride was a lot of fun and pretty fast. The horses…holy shit those things are mind boggling huge. 19 hands and 2,000lb plus animals. I’ve been around horses a little bit in my life but these things are a whole different ballgame. The amount of muscle they have is just crazy. I’m not a big man by any stretch of the imagination and I felt so small and insignificant walking around them and petting them. They were all really chill and gentle too. Here’s a picture of an average sized human standing next to them in the arena.

Depending on their activity level they eat something like 20-30 lbs of hay and some crazy amount of grain each day. Robert (@stangmx13) has some serious fueling to do if he wants to catch up with these 4-legged athletes 😂

That can't be right. There's no way those macros can support all that muscle. Where's the protein brah!!??

Of course you got me looking it up. Hay is ~1000 Cal/pound and 8-15% protein. A massive horse requiring “only” 20k-30k Cal seems kinda nuts. Animals are so efficient compared to humans.

I looked it up and the grain component of their diet is 5-10 lbs per day.

@Mike95060, Based on Robert’s post 30lbs of hay at 15% protein is about 4.5lbs of protein a day. That doesn’t account for the protein in the grain, which would depend on its composition. I know that for chickens it’s around 16% for chicken grain. So let’s assume another 1.6lbs of protein for a 10lb serving. So a little over 6 pounds of protein per day is about 1.3g protein per pound for a 2,000lb draft horse. My math sucks so please check my work 😁

NERD. I am chuckling at the horse nutrition talk.

I can't wait to get home and go on a nice long ride on the Surly.

@two wheel tramp, just imagine if you could consume and efficiently utilize what a horse eats, assume proportionality of course, you could ride that Surly all day faster than a juiced up Lance Armstrong.
