Ducati has been doing this for many years. I can't remember one before the "Foggy S4 Monster" in 2002 to celebrate Carl Fogarty winning in World Superbike. The (Ben) "Bostrom 998S" came soon afterward in 2002. I always felt that that one was just a bit too flashy for anybody who isn't a top notch rider. Since Bostrom's number was 155, they supposedly only made 155 of them, with number plates on the top triple clamp. I've seen several of them around, so California must have gotten more than their share of them.

You can do Google image searches on the stuff in quotes above if you want to see what those particular bikes look like.

I was sooooo close to buying one of those used....and my flirtation with Ducati continues to this day. Just cannot bring myself to buy one......I don't know why, cause I really like the monster.

I'd get the Nicky edition!!!!

Why not..? The Monster is Ducati's best selling bike. Not everybody can afford a 15-22 thousand dollar SuperBike... :)
 
Ducati is great at making really ugly rider edition bikes.
