Giants WR Burress suffers accidental gunshot wound

EAST RUTHERFORD, New Jersey (Ticker)—New York Giants star wide receiver Plaxico Burress was released from the hospital Saturday, one day after he was accidentally shot in the leg.

It was unclear if Burress shot himself or was the victim of a shooting at a New York City nightclub, although multiple media outlets reported it was the former.

Burress was hospitalized with gunshot injuries Friday night that were not believed to be life-threatening. FOX Sports initially reported the incident.

The Giants released a statement on the condition of Burress, who was released from the hospital Saturday afternoon at approximately 2 p.m. EST, according to the team

“We are aware of the fact that Plaxico was involved in an apparent accidental shooting last night,” the statement said. “We have been in contact with Plaxico since shortly after the incident. Plaxico suffered a wound to his right thigh. Obviously, our primary concern is for Plaxico’s health and well-being....

Yeah, but Burress is just another F*&K!n amateur idiot with a gun. Here's a story about a professional idiot with a gun:

MONROE, Ohio — Police in southwestern Ohio say a police chief mistakenly shot himself in the thigh after giving his daughter a gun safety lesson.

A police report says 54-year-old Middletown police Chief Greg Schwarber was preparing to clean his Glock .45-caliber pistol on Friday and didn't realize the gun was still loaded.

The report written by officers from neighboring Monroe says the bullet entered Schwarber's leg just above the knee.

When officers arrived, they found the chief lying on the floor with a towel covering his leg. Schwarber was taken to a hospital for treatment.

The hospital had no record of Schwarber being treated or admitted. A home phone number for him couldn't be found.

There is no, "Contention," for the playoffs at this point in the season. The only, "contention," is for another SuperBowl ring and that is what Plax is fucking with. Asshole has been acting up lately anway, beside being out already for tomorrow's game against DC because of a hamstring injury. I just hope the idiot wasn't so seriously injured that he has to be put on IR. If he goes on IR, I say my boys should cut him and sign another talented free agent in the off season.

Yeah NY looks good for a superbow repeat. Unfortunately with a gun shot wound on top of a ham string injury it doesn't look good for Plax. The Giants will be still be good though.

It's hard to say. His production has not been all that great this year but that is because he draws double coverage every down since after game 2. All that manpower diverted to stopping him has opened up a lot of other opportunities for other weapons on the Giants offense. Losing him will certainly hurt us. I'm hoping the wound was just a graze and he'll be back for the playoffs, but we'll see.
