Lake Berryessa Statistics (1/12/23 - 10 AM)

Lake level has risen to 405.6 feet, 34.4 feet below Glory Hole - the highest since June 20, 2022. That's an 11.3 foot rise since its low of 394.3 feet on Christmas Eve and 9.5 feet since New Year's Eve (396.1 feet).

Official rainfall at Monticello Dam has reached 19.93 inches. The unofficial total at the Lake Berryessa weather station above the Berryessa Highlands now stands at 15.3 inches. Rainfall at Cobb Mountain has reached 44.7 inches!

Pick a date to fill, win the 'nets

I'm guessing snowmelt doesn't have much impact on Berryessa so it'll be all about rainfall?

Update
Lake Berryessa Statistics (1/15/23 - 11 AM)

Lake level has risen to 409.1 feet, 30.9 feet below Glory Hole - the highest since July 21, 2022. That's an 14.8 foot rise since its low of 394.3 feet on Christmas Eve and 13 feet since New Year's Eve (396.1 feet) - and almost 10 feet during the last week alone. This is also nearly same level as the highest level reached on 1/28, 2022 - 410.13'.

Official rainfall at Monticello Dam has reached 22.41 inches. The unofficial total at the Lake Berryessa weather station above the Berryessa Highlands now stands at 17.33 inches. Rainfall at Cobb Mountain on 1/12/23 reached 44.7 inches while at Monticello Dam rainfall was only 19.9 inches!!

The Gamble Gage (lake capacity) also continues to rise. It is now at 65.2%. (1,010,897 Acre-Feet)

Capell Cove Launch Ramp is OPEN!

The Lake Berryessa News just got an email from Nathan Kyle of the BOR.

1/16/23: The Capell Launch is open. Be watchfull for floating and underwater debris.

This is good news, where I used to sail from, ten feet in a week.
Rain has stopped for a week +, we'll see what drains in over another week.

Lake Berryessa Statistics (1/20/23 - 10 AM)

Lake level has risen to 411.1 feet, 29.1 feet below Glory Hole - higher than all of 2022! The last time the lake was this high was on June 20, 2021. That's a 16.8 foot rise since its low of 394.3 feet on Christmas Eve and 15 feet since New Year's Eve (396.1 feet)

Official rainfall at Monticello Dam remains at 23.63 inches. The unofficial total at the Lake Berryessa weather station above the Berryessa Highlands now stands at 17.81 inches. Rainfall at Cobb Mountain on 1/19/23 reached 52.7 inches! Unfortunately, no rain is predicted for the next week. Hopefully the ground won't dry out too much to prevent runoff when the rain returns.

The Gamble Gage (lake capacity) also continues to rise. It is now at 67.4%. (1,046,321 Acre-Feet)

I wondered about how much water in transit over the week would drain into the lake since the rain quit.
Only a couple of feet.

My number I have settled on is "9" , I didn't get the idea that the lake filled with this digit, just "9"
It may represent 9 feet short, or, 9 inches short, I don't get it as a day of the month, or days to go until, , ,
I was hoping running the numbers as it fills will give me better insight as to when it does fill.

I'm sorry, I don't know. But wouldn't the "Glory hole" be a bad thing? Isn't that unlimited runoff from the reservoir?

Not so much in a "saving water" sense, more a "flooding the channel" sense.

The glory hole prevents the lake from over running the dam. it's a good thing.

For me it has always been, lake is full, boat ramps work, another great summer with full pond, water for all crops. + girls!!

Since BLM took everything back and killed resorts, not so popular.

There was a vid of the V-prez visiting a full catch basin of runoff, next to a freeway, talking about recharging the LA basin's ground water with it. All I see is a mosquito pond for spring.

If explanations are needed on how flood control and irrigation infrastructure work, or about water rights, please start a thread in Sink. All are essential, complex and extremely fascinating subjects.

If you want to talk politics, start a thread in the Political forum.

If people want to discuss riding motorcycles to Lake Berryessa to view seasonal changes in the lake environment, this is the place.

Lake Berryessa Statistics (1/28/23 - 9 AM)

The lake level has slowly reached 411.9 feet, 28.1 feet below Glory Hole - only about a 5 inch rise during the last week. Light rain is predicted to return next week, but nothing substantial - probably only enough to re-saturate the ground in hopes of more runoff later. Enjoy the great weather while we can.

With 28.1 feet to go to reach the lip of Glory Hole, we'll need at least 35 inches more rain to flow over the it.

Official rainfall at Monticello Dam remains at 23.63 inches. The unofficial total at the Lake Berryessa weather station above the Berryessa Highlands still stands at 17.81 inches.

I rode up there to check it out a couple weeks ago. Water level is way too low below the structure. Not gonna happen this year

Sno pix, fire @ boat docks, level still rising.

I have a buddy that still keeps his boat there, does he have a boat?

One of those lots for sale on Headlands used to belong to friends of mine. This is what it looked like last time they saw it...

The lake level has risen rapidly to 422.7 feet - 17.3 feet below Glory Hole - up 2 feet in 2 days. A 28.7 foot rise since its low of 394.0 feet on December 1, 2022. Rainfall at the dam is now at 34.53 inches. As a comparison, rainfall at Cobb Mountain reached 76.4 inches on 3/15/23.

The Gamble Gauge has reached 79.7% capacity (1,236,452 A-F). At 45 cubic feet per second (CFS), water release from the dam is at the lowest allowed by law and contract. The release is not affecting the lake level in any significant way. Water temperatures rose a degree to 53 degrees at the surface but still hovering around 49-50 degrees from 10 feet down to the bottom.
