Golden Gate Cycles Closing

I stopped going to GGC in the early 90's after 2-3 visits where they treated me like shit. Every time I thought about going back, a thread would pop up confirming that I made the right decision.

In September of 1998, I bought my 1998 Yamaha R1 from a guy in Scotts Valley for $7500. When I got it home I opened up the folder of receipts that came with the bike. I found the bill of sale from GGC for over $13K. In 1998.

eh. Then most every HD dealer is scum too.
Orignal owner had to have gone to the Yamaha website or opened a magazine and saw MSRP $9k or whatever it was. Mostly his fualt for paying more.

finally!

wont have those GGC assholes calling me up when i put an add on craigslist "hey bring your bike down so we can lowball offer you!" uh yeah, how about "NO" :laughing

good riddance

and yeah, Mission Motorcycles fuckin' rocks! been there many, many times. always good experiences

I'm sure not many broken hearts here on barf. I went there once for a service and new tires for my Versys. They treated me right, did a good job and didn't charge too much.:ride

How they have stayed open this long is a friggin' miracle. I wouldn't buy blinker fluid from that place after being there only once. :|

well
since i've ordered/gotten parts from them, not good.

shoulda bought the yellow 599 when i walked in there in 2005 actually looking for bikes... or maybe not, I wasn't up to the yellow or to the brand new bike:)

to those that (feel?) have been overcharged, that sucks.. but what did you expect. i heard it's a downtown dealership...

I never had a good experience at GGC, however, I've never had a bad experience at Mission Motorcycles.

Wow, GGC has been there a long time.

I've gone there for the occasional parts without much drama.

I guess Mission Motorcycles in Daly City will gladly be picking up the slack.

Mission is your basic motorcycle shop. I like it. Don't have a Honda or other supported product at the moment, but will gladly patronize their shop when I do get something they support.
They had or have a service manager, Ned, who totally took care of my VTR when it had a problem. Will always come back, just for his efforts.

Customer service is everything. Hare Racing - now that's a damn shame of a loss.

:cry

oh noes...ggc is closing...

now we only have left the dealers to give praises to instead of bashing like ggc....

what will become of teh barf without all the whining...????!!!!11oneoneone

Thank god, and good riddance to bad rubbish. It looks like GGC's reputation apparently came back and bit them in the ass, as many here predicted it would.

They won't be missed.

I think it sucks to loose a MC Dealer that is inside the city limits even though they sucked for a lot of people.

I've been getting parts from there since 1982 back when they were down on Van Ness and Eddy. In fact I think there is still a Yamaha sign on that building.

My first bike 73 CB350 came with the original bill of sale from them. I think they were called SF Honda or something like that, but my memory is fading on that fact. The CB350 was $850.00 new in 1973..

I like buying parts online from them and going in to pick them up. No fuss... No B.S. and sometimes the website has better prices than going in to buy it in person.

it was a different owner back then...

I bought my bike from Golden Gate just over four years ago. It wasn't a perfect experience, but it also wasn't terrible. That said, I haven't been back because of their reputation.

fuck i just ordered parts from them last week, felt like i was doing something very very wrong. just hope they come in soon. also was kind of funny that the "salesman" didnt know dick about the product he was supposed to be selling but i guess that may be one of the reasons they are closing down. cant wait for that "sale"
