Whee!
After years of waiting, I finally upgraded from a Hero2 to a Hero6 camera for taking video on the bike. Just wanted to share that I'm pretty happy with it. The video stabilization makes this camera worth it on its own. It turns it from a choppy bouncy mess to almost looking like it's mounted on a gimbal.

I tried all of the settings and mounted the camera to my helmet's chinbar which seems like the best POV.

The only downside so far is that the audio sucks, which has been the case with every gopro ever. So I am looking for a solution.

Does anyone else have a Hero6? How do you like it?
Any recommendations for quality audio capture?

I recently bought one too. I actually have done just one vid so far and not down loaded it to view. :p

Just the ease of operation makes it a huge step up from the 2 for me.

Oh yeah... the little screen is so nice, and the app helped me set up the angle on my helmet just right.

I played with the settings a lot and found one that gives me the best video on the bike:
4k30 Superview
Stabilization on
Auto Low Light Off
Protune settings:
-Sharpness: High
-Color: Flat (GoPro color setting pops more, but leaves out a lot of detail due to the high contrast)
-ISO Max: 800
-Other settings default

i just recently bought the 5 - didnt need the higher resolution the 6 had and the 5 was only $250 on sale at the time.

I will say the mic's suck - and agree - on every gopro ive owned (Hero 3+ & session 5) they equally suck.

You can route a mic separately but it seems like a pain in the ass for little return.

Mine took a tumble with the skeleton case on - luckily no damage - the sticky mount unsticked itself :) but i since have gotten the water proof case and notice the sound quality is somewhat better - more engine noise and less wind noise - plus it's a good upgrade for those just in case moments - although the trade off is - it's a bit bulkier/heavier now.

I actually bought a 5 when it first came out and had nothing but problems with it. I charged it up and the next morning it was at 80% battery. It would glitch out, and had some video clarity issues. I think they fixed that stuff with later firmware.

The 6 is nearly identical to the 5 except for the advanced stabilization cause it uses more accelerometers for measuring rotation.

I’ve had some charging issues but it’s been ok so far. Every gopro I’ve had has had some problem. Looked at other brands but haven’t found something really better (vid quality and stabalization and battery life).
