Finally pulled the trigger on a set of 17" SM wheels for my 2000 KTM LC4 640. They're on their way UPS. Pretty excited.

I need the 20mm axle to 26mm hub spacers but they're backordered from KTM. I know they're used to be some after market solutions, but there are too many threads between ADV, SuperMotoJunkies, Thumpertalk, etc.

Can anyone point me in the right direction? Also, even thought KTM has them on backorder, does anyone have the part number. I found a thread on ADV where someone for some reason put a "..." at the end of the part number instead of leaving the whole part number so I can't look it up. Why would you do that?

Lots of people have done the swap already. There's gotta be a reason people choose the spacers over different bearing. Plus, spacers are made by the manufacturer. I'll go with the conventional wisdom.

Old school. He doesn't have email. I left a VM.

I can't help, but the LC4 is a great motor and you will have such a fun bike once its on the street. makes my miss my 625 SMC, my first supermoto bike that got me hooked in 2007.

Oh, I know. I've been riding it for the past 2 years on the stock wheels. I'm just stoked on finally getting an SM setup.

Yeah, it's weird that for the first time, BARF was almost no help in finding answers to my hub/axle swap questions though.

Hopefully correct spacers on order. Still need to either find an SMC sidestand, or just cut mine down. Then maybe on to the kart track Will.

I need to get it all set up soon as my rear tire is currently squared off enough that someone might take me for a darkside rider. But I don't want to buy a new tire since I know I'm making the switch as soon as all my parts get lined up.

Just needed a couple stock spacers to make the 20mm axle & forks works with the 27mm hub! I put it all together and rode it down the street, but need to do a more thorough shakedown ride before I go back to commuting with it.

It sits a little lower, but somehow the kickstand doesn't need to be shortened.

Next step is to trim the left side fork guard, get a new rear tire, and get a Vapor dash since I'm now without a speedo drive. Probably trim the front fender to since it seems a bit oversize for the new wheels.

Bike is going to be hella fast. I had a 640 Adv and when I would throw the 19/17 set on there it was scary. Hell, even with full Knobbies on the 21/18 it was fast on the pavement. Nothing like a 2 wheel drift while loaded up with camping gear in the middle of no where on a 1.5 lane epic goat trail. Aaaah, to be young and dumb.

Dammit. Put a 160x60 on the rear and it's too wide. At least it was free. I guess I need 150s. Anyone got any recommendations on a good 150 tire? I know there's not as much selection as there are 160s.

Correct. I researched a few threads on SupermotoJunkies and ADV. I spent $10 on a mini-planer and and shaved the tire. I gots hella chicken strips, so me no worry.

I'm running a Pirreli rosso2. on the XR650r. 150/60 17.

Really neutral feel, due to what appears to be a rounded profile. Awesome stability in lean and on corner exits, in spite the somewhat flatter rear tire when mounted. Really predictable feel for slide on corner exits. Awesome braking stability.

Make sure you have your suspension geometry/sag dialed in with these tires.

My pegs are just kissing the deck on these things and I still have a little less than 1/4" of chicken strip showing. So plenty of tire.

I'm about 2k miles into the set, and as they are wear the turn-in just gets slower as opposed to "stiff-then-twitchy". And its looking like i should get another 800 to 1k miles, depending on how much of a goon i'm riding.

From my previous experience with Pirrelis the effect of wear on handling is gradual, and not "light switch" compared to the Michelins i've run (sportbikes).

I feel these are good baseline tires until i can switch to sumo specific tires for a comparison. I'm also running non sumo pressures (34 hot front and rear).

good luck!
