so i call today to get a quote on a slave cylinder for my TL1000R. i get my call answered by a girl who promptly passed me to the parts dept.
i get on the phone with the parts guy, told hom what i needed and he told me " are you serious? TL's dnt have slave cylinders, their cable clutch" so i said, "yes in fact they do, MINE IS LEAKING" he says " are you SURE its a SLAVE CYLINDER??" at this moment, i wasnt even mad that he questioned me, cause his idiocy amused me. i told him to get onto lightspeed, or whatever parts program he uses and to look it up and give me a price. he looks it up, and says " so you needed a brake master cylinder right?"   i said no CLUTCH SLAVE CYLINDER. he said oh, ok. thats gonna be "a hun"...
i asked a hunDRED?? he said ya, we dont have it in stock either. wow. im goin to be shopin there soon!!!

I know some of the older GSX-Rs had hydraulic clutches...

OK, I have a better story. Last October I couldn't get a wheel bearing out of the rear wheel on my Valkyrie. So rather than risking damaging the wheel, I called Milpitas Motorsports to find out how much they wanted to press out the bearing.

Got transfered to the service department, told the receptionist-guy what I needed, he said wait a minute, he'd check with a mechanic. Comes back to the phone, says I must be mistaken, his mechanic said Valkyries are like GoldWings, and have no wheel bearings!

I tell the guy his mechanic is full of shit, and management better fire his ass right now. Are you sure you asked the mechanic about a Valkyrie wheel bearing? Are you certain of what you heard him say? Yeah to both, says the guy.

Then, the guy says hang on a minute, I hear some muffled conversation that I can't hear well enough to understand, and the guy comes back on the line. Says another mechanic was standing behind him during the last part of our conversation, and in between LOL agreed with me that my wheels DO have wheel bearings.

Yup TLR's have hydro clutch not cable like most modern sportbikes. The GP guys are stupid! I dont even know how they got the job in the first place?

On the other hand MMS is a great shop. I know the Parts Dept. Manager and he is a really cool guy.

Consider yourself Lucky. Last time I went into All American in Santa Cruz they didn't even know what, or who made, a TLS.....

I get all my oem parts from bikebandit.

When did you get back from the east coast?

I live over by them and go ing there to get part's in the past. I went in there last week to check out prices on a couple things for my new ZX10, Make a long story short the BOY behind the counter was so full of CRAP and really didnt know much either. I'm so done with them, they just try and burn people and have no clue for the most part.
